I don't think they have enough balls to try/pull off the resurrected Coulson being a bad guy. My guess is that Ward is still a good guy and Hand and her henchmen were bad guys and for some reason they knew Paxton was unaware of it. I think Ward is an undercover within Hydra now.
yea I'd thought about that as well, that Ward is like acting as a double agent with Hydra, and his true loyalties are with Shield. But they have seemed to establish the basic principle that not all of Hydra's agents necessarily are aware of each other, just in that sequence how Ward had to take down all those guys (and seemingly even kill some) in the hallway where he and Skye were trapped in that one room. because those were all hydra soldiers.

The more I think about this, I'm really on the fence with Ward, as to where his loyalties truly are. I mean that very last scene, why would they make a very clear point of him not even listening to Garret tell one of his war stories, that he's stone faced, totally all inside his own head at the moment. That suggests to me he's reluctantly doing what he's doing, that he's basically a triple agent, in the end for Coulson/Shield. plus I could see the case maybe being that originally he did intend on purely being loyal to Hydra, but now his feelings for Skye have made him question that.

But at the same time, there's no getting around the fact that he just straight up murdered 2 soldiers and agent Hand in cold blood. Would Coulson really be okay with that, the ends justifying the means? Murdering three innocent people just to keep his cover with Garrett?

    1) at least the show is causing discussion that isn't just about how shitty it is
    2) i hope Ward is HYDRA so at least he can either die or get more interesting
    3) i'm hoping the black dude joins the team and has a personality that isn't annoying

if it gets renewed for a second season, i hope they keep it at 13 eps and have a more focused storyline like the last few weeks. if disney wants marvel to have a presence on ABC i think it'd be great to have 13 eps of Agents of SHIELD in the fall and 13 eps of the proposed Peggy Carter period piece SHIELD series in the spring (especially assuming they can get Neil Mcdonough to be Dum Dum Dugan)

Thank goodness for the double bill last night. Missed last weeks show, so was able to catch up. Pretty solid 2 hours and laying good foundation for rest of the season and beyond.

Yeah the last few episodes have been MUCH stronger than the beginning of the season Monster of the Week type episodes.

wow could the product placement have BEEN any more blatant during that "Lola falling from the plane" sequence? an action heavy scene, but thankfully we very clearly get to see the logos of two different hotels and Nokia

I don't know, I couldn't help but roll my eyes a little bit when Deathlock got Skye to give up the drive by trying to kill Ward right in front of her. I mean after all the shit that she's now seen, she's completely aware of Ward for who and what he is (and clearly doesn't even buy it when he tries the "but the feelings I had for you were real" line), like she'd seriously still have that much of an issue with letting him bite it there.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC TV Show)

Marvel news double whammy!! I never had a doubt for a second this was going to happen, but they sure took their sweet old time getting it officially done. Despite not setting the Tuesday night ratings on fire, Agents Of Shield will indeed be getting a season 2. Presumably another 20+ episode run.

But the long talked about Agent Carter series will ALSO be getting its 1st season, I would guess premiering sometime right after the new year. It's not totally clear how many episodes it will be, but the rumor mill is it will only be more like 10-13, which I think is very wise (frankly I'm still not sure AoS shouldn't be aiming for the same goal).
However the one detail as important as anything else, it hadn't seemed like a foregone conclusion originally that Hayley Atwell herself was going to play Peggy Carter again, and I'd said before I didn't think they should bother with the series if they were going to recast. But she's in!

Anyone else catch last nights new episode? Pretty solid start, lots of new information as usual, just have to see how it all ties in as the season unfolds. Also with the new Avengers movie coming next May, wonder how soon or often we start seeing tie-ins to the new movie. They did a great job last season not doing too much, too soon with Capt. America and Thor.

I thought it was good. I am guessing some of those new characters are staying, but some will be only around for a while. Wish they would en-corporate a "superhereo" when the antagonist for the episode has special powers.

Still need to finish season 1. I heard it got better after the Christmas break, but I didn't have cable at that time. I'm not overly excited to jump back on board though.

Maybe that's what they're eventually getting to with Skye?

The first episode of the new season was really solid, IMO. I particularly enjoyed Ward and Fitz, and how little Skye there was.

If they don't revert to "monster of the week" episodes and stick with episode arcs instead then it will be a hell of a good season.

So far I'm okay with how they've intro'd the use of him here in season 2, and so depending on how that pans out, but I'm REALLY hoping they're not even going to try to genuinely redeem him. because I mean c'mon, he literally just murdered some people in cold blood, the guy's already past the point of no return.

slight problem with the 3rd episode here. I find it incredibly hard to believe that Hydra, who has seemingly recruited a lower level (but scientifically gifted) Shield agent, wouldn't then AT THE VERY LEAST have that person's apartment under constant monitoring.

I mean I can appreciate Coulson trying to run an operation of having Simmons be a double agent "working" at Hydra, but to debrief her literally in her apartment? c'mon. There's no way they wouldn't be listening in.

They sure did seem to imply though that Ward was originally born of what would be a very well known family. A major politician, or captain of industry somewhere?

Also I heard supposedly the special Avengers 2 teaser they showed at CC, that that will be on the Guardians blu-ray.

no fucking WAY is that a nitpick

c'mon in a "spy show", that is 100% reasonable. The CinemaSins youtube channel would be all over that. but mind you, overall I have liked the direction of the show. They're on their feet now.

also, "worked up" is a bit of an oversell

I don't find it that far of a stretch. She's a lower level grunt. They cant monitor 24/7 all of their grunts when they have world domination under way.

And does Hydra really know how gifted she is??

They have mentioned before that noone knew who was shield and who was hydra (even for hydra members, they didnt know everyone else that was also hydra) so it is easy to not want to bug every single shield agent who is now hydra.

actually yea part of what I was coming back to say, I thought about it a little bit more, and yea even I can see it's not that really much of a stretch. Maybe I initially reacted that way because they had obviously set up the entire opening in the way so then that reveal hits you like a brick wall. Hell they even edited the preview last week to do that, showing you just Coulson's "did you really think I wouldn't find out?" totally out of context. but, not like it's the first show ever to do that.

btw, I wonder if the character that the kid was playing here in this episode (same actor who was Jack and Juliet's son in Lost season 6) was actually in the comics. Just because, as they're both under the Marvel umbrella, but different "properties", but he appears to have the same exact power as Iceman Bobby in the X-Men. though of course getting it in different ways.

Donnie Gill in the comics is known as Blizzard. His origin story is very different, but he's in there.

    I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

They seemed to make an effort to tell you that Hydra didn't know who's running Shield at the end of the last episode... I guess when Hydra finds out it used to be Simmon's commanding officer shit turns real bad for her?

Started this a few days ago. On episode 6, I really like it. Not to mention with the hype around the new trailer it was a perfect time to start.

Where are you watching this? I'm looking for a place that's streaming season 1.

I'm looking to get into this, but I'm not interested in paying to see it (either in iTunes or DVD form) and I feel like it's a show you can't just jump in to.
