Re: Preseason NCAA Basketball Poll is released
I said he shouldn't have done it, he needs to be better than that, and he can't let his emotions take over in a negative way. What more do you all want?
I know this is going to come across as biased, but a former high-level player, I always try to watch games with objective eyes and learn from them. With Allen, I see someone who attacks the basket with reckless abandon and oftentimes gets fouled going to the rim, while moving without the ball (holding, nudging...no big deal that's the game), etc. and really doesn't get a lot of calls. When someone takes it to the basket as much as he does, they should probably shoot more FTs than he does. As Coach K mentioned last night, he shot the ball 20 times last night and that resulted in a single trip to the foul line. That's tough to do. I just think it wears on him and creates frustration.
He's 20 years old, he will mature, and certainly we'd like for him to not act that way, but he's not getting into bar fights, he's not beating his girlfriend, and he's not cheating his way through school. He's making mistakes, but he could be making worse.
