Ok thanks for the help...I am just nervous I don't know the area.

Is this "Fred Meyer" easy to find? Never been in this area before :O

Fred Meyers is just a regional department/grocery store. They have food/booze and also a camping section to get gear. It's classier than a Walmart.

Yes, agree, more hang out mandatory. I'm going to snag extra bracelets at the gate and you should come hang with us snobby folks, and after the show I will wander district 9 with the crew and come find your fine camp.

speaking of jared, he's been all MIA from the thread this year. what's he got-a busy job or something!?

Yes, Fred Meyer is in Ellensburg (one of the few towns on the way out to the gorge), if you have a nav app on your phone it will be super easy, if not...just google yourself some directions, it's relatively close to the highway. and yeah...there's a few people who have done the flying w/ camping gear thing and love the cooler packing thing. keeps your gear safe, you arrive with a cooler and avoid buying one of those shitty earth hating styrofoam ones.

idea for a cheap ass tent- buying one on craigslist. I got a decent tent for 20 bucks once. hook up with someone before you get here and have a transaction setup, just buy a tent and your golden. Also, alot of people selling passes etc on craiglist.

There is probably one in SeaTac (where the airport is) or in Issaquah on your way to the Gorge on I-90. Shouldn't be hard to find, do you know where one is April?

ellensburg is probably the best bet...issaquah would be a good choice as well.

Think the Gorge is still standing after that Earth Shattering Journey/Loverboy/Pat Benatar show last weekend?

word. Yea honestly camping at the gorge is ridiculous, you'll meet people within 5 minutes of arrival and be trashed within ten. after 3 days you've had the time of your life.

Just wanted to mention that I'm coming solo too, from almost as far away as you. Sort of. I'm meeting a friend there, and she'll be my camp/seat buddy. I'm staying at Wildhorse/Toupstown for my third time though, so I will be among many folks that I already know.

It is a very worthwhile experience - I say do it!

The area is ridiculously easy to navigate, and so many folks fly in through Seatac you could probably find someone to follow out to Gorge or to buddy up with.

Everyone promotes the put your gear in a cooler thing. I am a fan of a big suitcase on wheels. I picked one up at the thrift store for $20 just for Gorge - it is just big enough to fit my tent, and a very small cooler, and a ton of other stuff. I like the security of having my stuff zipped into somewhere - I don't trust TSA/airport luggage handlers.

ok thanks for the help...yeah i was hoping to find someone that i could meet at the airport when they were landing and that had an extra spot for wildhorse so i could be around some people i knew. but i know its tough because most people have their plans already and also don't know me so its tough to tag along

How many people do your friends have on their spot? WH allows four per spot with the purchase, but they will allow more than four per spot and charge a fee for each extra person. WH also has an overflow parking area (fills up pretty fast) that you can pay to park in if your friends arrive ahead of you.

(Backs out of thread and back into lurker status because it hurts too much knowing I'm not gonna make it this year.)

We have space for one more in our reservation. I may have space in the car. My friend started a new job and they may be driving separately which means my SUV goes from full to just me. I won't know for at least a week though. If this is the case then I wouldn't mind a new buddy for company and gas. I'm leaving Thursday around the same time as the bus, from Seattle(ish).

The thing is your best bet is to find people that are going in big ass groups in standard camping because there's way more people to meet there and hangout with etc. Plus there's no limits on group size etc when you go in standard, you just go and have like 50 people at a site
