Also, Maroni promotes a dishwasher to manager just because he was scared and hid in a freezer? That seemed a little outrageous to me.

Cobblepot saved half of Maroni's money. He showed initiative. The ironic thing is he stole the other half

    Re: Gotham (FOX Show)

I'm still on board with Cobblepot's story. By far the most interesting thing going on in the show.

I wasn't focusing on every detail this episode, but I did catch the "crown prince of" crime quote that Bullock said to the street punk he was interrogating. Obviously another Joker reference.

Liked the action scenes in this one, the writing is still forced in a lot of scenes. Bruce isn't getting any better so far. Still see no reason for Jim to be speaking with him every episode.

Overall, better episode than last week, but there's still a ways to go. My hope is that the show will turn a corner to really get people invested in the story line, but the writing and some of the acting is dragging it down.

I'd rank the episodes thus far in the following order

    #1: Ep. 2
    #2: Ep. 4
    #3: Pilot
    #4: Ep. 3

Side Note: Robin Lord Taylor (Cobblepot) made an appearance in the Walking Dead premier on Sunday for anybody that didn't catch that.

Jada could literally be substituted out for any middle school play lead actress and be outdone.

Her voice is like Shakespearean over the top and it's so obnoxious. I'm giving this show a couple more weeks before I jump ship entirely and devote my time to catching up on Arrow.

I completely agree. She is terrible.

But you're probably better off watching Arrow and starting The Flash. I've only seen 2 episodes and I'm pretty sure I'm not investing anymore time on it. Every week I check in this thread to see how it's going and nothing in here makes me want to watch it.

Agreed, I think they've nailed a great vibe/atmosphere for Gotham. Kind of a grittier, less cartoony, version of Burton's Gotham

Other then yes, JPS, she terrible (in everything she does).

The visuals do quite feel "Burton-esqe".

    Re: Gotham (FOX Show)

So my wife caught of some this week's episode as I was watching it. Her comment to me (while JPS is on screen) "So is this show actually any good, because the acting is pretty ridiculous and over the top?"

    Yeeeaaaaaah....

Liked the whole origin of "venom" storyline and that it is a result of some dirty work within Wayne Corp. Interested to see just how corrupt the board members of the company are. First time I kind of found some of the Bruce stuff credible and interesting (with some extension of disbelief).

The Falcone scene at the end was kind of laughable. He comes across as some weak mama's boy instead of the head of Gotham organized crime. I guess they were going for a Don Corleone vibe here, but sharing earbuds with Mooney's girl while feeding the birds? Come on.

I'm now 2 full episodes behind on this, but I'm just feeling so little motivation to go and start catching up. I never would've imagined I'd say, season 2 of Sleepy Hollow is actually better than Gotham right now. hell it's VASTLY better (mind you, SH is well served by the fact they're only doing 13 episode seasons).

If the final episode is allegedly Bruce Wayne becomes Batman for the first time, I wonder if in subsequent seasons (assuming its renewed) that they will jump forward a few years. Besides the acting and terrible dialogue, it appears a big issue is that the writers are having difficult to mesh the ongoing plot with each particular episode's story.

If they go by Frank Miller's Year One (which they've pulled from already in the show), Bruce Wayne becomes Batman at 25, but he was away and "training" for 12 years prior to that. (which means he technically began training at what, age 13?)

The kid who plays Bruce Wayne is 13, so they could show him beginning his training - that would be one way to move the show forward.

Watched the last two episodes today. Haven't really had much desire to, I've been losing interest but I'm going to keep up until the end of the season to see what happens. I don't see it getting renewed, but who knows.

Penguin is seriously the most interesting character in this show. Everyone else is just blah.

Edward Nigma is starting to get annoying, he's all but saying "SERIOUSLY I'm the FUCKING RIDDLER!"

It's dropped a lot since episode 1, and will probably continue to drop until the last episode of Season 1, but probably not low enough that we won't see a Season 2. Hardcore Batman fans will keep it going a little longer.

I wonder if that number will dip below 4 million before the end of season 1...that would be a huge statement for a show's finale to have half the viewers for the finale as it did the pilot

    Re: Gotham (FOX Show)

I saw where Yahoo listed this as one of their "Winners" for their Fall television shows. All the comments were raving about how much they loved it. I just don't see it. The acting, script and story lines are terrible.

It's terrible but entertaining. I'll always watch but I will not support it for any awards.
