Yes, if you go on a day with lots of games, or a few big games.

NFL playoffs, New Years Day Bowls, March Madness, Super Bowl

It would be mid-April so nothing would be going on. Can you place a bet on a Super Bowl/National Championship winner before the season? I have no clue how any of that works.

Yes, and usually you'll get much better odds than after the season starts.

There is a ton of fun stuff to do out there though without gambling. I can make a list if you'd like.

Yeah I just wanted to make a regular ole bet before the season. The people I might be going with have been before (well his parents have) and they told me some stuff. I just want to eat some good food and go to cool bars, etc.

Will remember this we're going for my pledge brothers 21st birthday so I'm sure a massage would be a great gift for him.

Been there twice and didn't spend a single cent on gambling. Had a blast both times

Ok, so the hotel rates changed today and now Treasure Island is up to 160 a night with fees included. Now i don't know what to do. The Linq stayed the same, but i love TI's location.

In vegas is it worth it to splurge a little more ($150-160) on a nice hotel for a "home base" or is it easy enough to spend your time/money wherever you please on the strip?

If we decide to up our price range hotels such as MGM Grand & Mandalay become within grasp. Is it worth it?

the linq is only like a 10 minute walk from treasure island, so if you're basing it on location there's not a ton of difference.

mandalay bay is a great hotel, but if you plan on trying to see a lot of vegas, i'd stay away since it's at the most southern point of the strip

MGM is solid, i'd say you get your money's worth but its not spectacular by any means

at the end of the day, TI is still probably worth a little extra cash over the linq. the linq has some pretty sick updated features in their rooms, but you can definitely tell its just a renovation (and still going through it) of a 30+ year old hotel.

    Treasure Island - 135 a night + 28 daily resort fee = 163 a night
    Linq - 98 a night + 28 daily resort fee = 126 a night
    Mandalay - 140 a night + 32 daily resort fee = 172 a night
    MGM - 143 a night + 32 daily resort fee - 175 a night

    Could also do Monte Carlo

    104 a night + 28 daily resort fee = 132 a night

I definitely thought the Linq was a newer hotel. I'd scratch that option. My vote goes towards MGM

I think I'm officially going here in mid April. How much cash should a 24 year old take? Only staying like 4 days.

i'd say if you're into gambling a decent amount, $200/day isn't too bad. just went back in November and brought about that much.

Only about 4 days, 4 days in Vegas is so long. It's like a lifetime.

Just got back, same age and days spent as you. $200 a day is what I brought if you don't mind losing it all. My share of the room, gas, and food only cost me about 220 the whole trip because I'm a cheap fuck. And only lost $120 gambling the whole trip because I'm an newb who got lucky at the dollar slots, so I didn't get a feel of exactly what a normal person would lose on a Vegas trip.

My first trip lasted 7 or 8 days (we drove from IL so we felt obligated to stay the week plus I didn't pay anything for the condo) and I only spent roughly $200 the entire week.

$200 a day sounds about right for pissing away money.

If you're doing a nice dinner or clubs (blech), you'll probably want more.

I much prefer sports betting to table games. I usually come out ahead because I make the bets when I'm somewhat sober. Table games while drunk don't work out well for me.

Not gambling, free room, free air fare, clubs aren't my thing.

I'm "cheap" I guess. I just hate pissing money away on stupid shit like gambling. I'm just not a poker player or anything like that.

Only plan laying down a couple sports bets.

Sports bets are the way to go imo at Vegas. That and maybe some cheap black jack tables.

The way I look at it is the money is for the free drinks. If I wet to a bar in Vegas I'd be laying down a Hundo anyway, so spending it with the chance to make some back and getting free drinks is a win all around.

Hint on how to get cheap drinks in Vegas....go to the nickle slots (pretend you are playing if want to _, order a lot of alcohol, and tip accordingly. She will be back in a jiffy. If you got 8 guys and tip her collectively $20, everybody wins.
