Was able to get my hands on the Party Time album (LivePhish had it for $8) - it's definitely underwhelming as a whole. Only a few tracks on there really stood out.

I think Miami is a good spot. Phish is making money and tons of people will show up and buy tickets at the venue. $18 for a Phish show is fucking great. They're so over priced anyway nowadays.

I know Miami isn't in NYC but it's still a good spot. Decent weather, not as expensive, etc.

To me it says some fans won't travel to see Phish outside of the northeast.

I think fans travel plenty, but it was dumb to do NYE in Miami two months after a west coast fall run culminating with Halloween weekend in Vegas. It doesn't help that flights to and hotels in Vegas were dirt cheap that weekend, while you can't find anything from the northeast to Miami for under $600, and hotels are about the same per night.

Read a WSJ article the other day about how middling sales have been for Miami while Skrillex has only sold half of MSG. I have a hard time believing the next many NYE's won't be back in NYC, or Boston, Philly, etc. where they already have an established fan base.

Rumor on PT was that MSG wanted some sort of ridiculous security measures put in place, as well as some other renegotiations of the contract, and Phish's camp said fuck it and moved to Miami.

If Skrillex plays to a half full room this year there is no way MSG doesn't bend over backwards for Phish next year.

Or if they have to wheel dozens of kids out on stretchers. They will miss having the 3 shows leading up to NYE. No events after the 27th is a gap for them. That's a lot of beer sales not made, regardless of tickets sold.
