Official Colorado 2013

Well if the dates are real, and looks like they are, we are getting two nights at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. Yeah! August 23rd and 24th.

Finally...I'd assume they would play inside the soccer stadium like the Phish shows previously?

This is going to be a great birthday week for me. Colorado shows and then fly to Gorge to catch them a few days later. Also, looks like these are the first shows after their break. They should be fired up! (Or pissed that they had to leave home.)

For the Phish shows EVERYTHING was GA. Field was GA AND stadium seats were GA.

I am guessing for these shows the field will most likely be GA, not sure on the stadium seats.

Super stoked about 2 CO shows. I've also enjoyed Phish Dick's the last few years - should be a great place to catch DMB.

Where's my 2 "moist panties" friends from the Boyd event at Cervantes on Weds??

Highly doubtful. There is no noise about a festival, and I bet they would have announced the festival before DMB announcing the dates. Last I heard, they lost a lot of money putting that festival together.

I wish they'd do a 2 or 3 day stint somewhere like Telluride, and not in Commerce City. Colorado is one of the most beautiful places in the country and they play in a sports center in the most industrial part of the city? Again? 3 times? Why?

I think Boulder chased them off after the 2001 fine for playing too long, and no tailgating policy.

Red Rocks could easily sell out 7 to 10 nights in a row if DMB would ever do something like that, but they won't.

Sports Authority is too big and costs too much upfront for the band. Something like 1.5 million to have an event there.

Pepsi Center has crazy people that throw knives on stage, and it's summer so no one wants to sit inside, even though it will be 100 plus in August like usual. Though the view inside the Pepsi Center will be similar to that of the beauty of Commerce City.

I wish City Park would do some kind of real music festivals, but apparently the music disturbs the animals at the zoo so they can't have large events there either.

    Broomfield sucks.
Fiddler's Green sucks and it's too small.

So I guess this leaves us with the band coming every 2 to 3 years to play downwind of the dog food factory, traffic-laden, no trees, no parking, no camping, no mountains, asphault, dusty, astroturf ground, hard bleachers, sports field that was not built for music, ugliest place in Colorado for a concert weekend. Woo.

Although I am happy they'll be back in the area, you are pretty spot on with these points. Maybe once their summer tours actually wind down in the coming years they will do stretches at the rocks.

Have you done any shows at Dick's before? I actually don't hate the venue at all. For Phish it has great parking (as long as you are there in time to tailgate). The venue has surprisingly good sound. I think if the people who have seen shows there were to post, you would have an overwhelmingly positive reaction. DMB hasn't played Red Rocks in almost eight years (and 7 years before that). So that ship appears to have (unfortunately) sailed. I am sure we'll all meet up there (even a cynic like me, who is winding down on the band). I am sure the venue (and band) will not let us down.

Thinking about doing these shows. We have friends in Denver so it's a free place to stay. It looks like for the most part you guys enjoy the venue. Will it be a big GA field then assigned seats in the bleachers?

My guess is GA all over. They might have some premium seating up front. Phish was GA. It's a big big venue. i would be shocked if they sold it out.

The venue is great. I have been to the Phish shows the last couple of years and the place was rocking. Sound is great and big lots for tailgaiting. They did have camping for the Phish shows so who knows if they do it or not for these two.

I am guessing seating will be all GA. For the Phish shows you had to pay more for the field GA tickets.

Like someone else said, I was shocked when I seen two nights. It's a fairly big venue, I can't imagine these shows selling out. I remember when they played pepsi center for two nights in 06 and the second night was half full. People were selling tickets for the balcony for like $5.

I was thinking of making a visit to a friend in the area around this time... I saw that Phish did the entire filed as GA but when I looked at the concert seating map it shows sections on the floor... Guess we'll find out soon enough...
