I love them. I take my daughter to any of the touring ones that come close by. She loves them more than I do, I think. We just saw Annie a few weeks ago.

Rent is really good, and American Idiot was fan-fucking-tastic. Neither of them hold a candle to Lion King though.

Can we rename this thread to general Broadway discussion or something along those lines?

Anywho, saw The Humans last night and it was a fantastic production. Wow. See it if you can! Can get 2 rush tickets day of performance for $30 each at box office...

Went to see Avenue Q last time I was in New York. Good for quite a few laughs.

    To answer the original question:

    Rent, then Book of Mormon.

I have only seen Wicked and Finding Neverland on stage. Loved them both.

Not sure if it counts, but I think I've seen dozens of Disney stage productions. Aladdin is always a treat. A few days ago I saw Believe on a cruise. Loved that one too. It blows me away how they pull off a flawless production while the ship is rocking back and forth.

Favorite all time is The Music Man. Lion King, Pirates of Penzance, and Wicked also very high on the list. Also was able to see the premier of Head Over Heels last summer (book by Jeff Whitty who also wrote Ave Q) and with another viewing or two that could take my top spot. Pretty awesome to see a new musical that hits it out of the park on the first run.

Rent is stellar. Def was a pivotal change of pace for musicals. Need to see it again. Is it the national anniversary tour?

Yep! I watched a clip of La Vie Boheme and they seemed to have really nailed the casting of Mark Cohen. He sounds very identical to Anthony. This guys is just a litter higher.

Start with Book of Mormon, that way you can break into it with South Park humor and not go full on jazz hands theatre right away.

RENT was absolutely incredible last night. If they're coming near you, I highly suggest that you go. Katie LaMark who played Maureen was phenomenal.

So, I've had the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat for weeks AND I got tix 2 weeks ago (at face value!) for NEXT SEPTEMBER. The songs are pretty incredible. "Wait for It", "Satisfied", Lafayette's triple-time rap on "Guns and Ships". This guy Miranda is kind of a genius.

If you're teetering on whether to listen or not, check out the YouTube playlist of songs from the show. I got through like 5 songs and went right to iTunes to buy.

I'm glad yet another person has been turned onto this. I'm seeing the Chicago production in April, and am on the mailing list for the first batch of London tickets. Gonna try to see it in every city it has a residency in...only additional one is LA, but I don't think anything's been specifically announced for that yet. But, for me, nothing will top the night I saw it. I went into it blind, purposefully, only heard the opening number during the grammy performances. What a way to experience a show of this magnitude.

    Has anybody here seen it?

Into The Woods is the most brilliant musical I've ever seen. The film, which I did like, gets the point across, but falls short in a few areas. The music's complexity is intriguing to me as a musician myself. Listening to Sondheim discuss the forethought he put into the score is unreal. The different themes, motifs, etc. are so key to the way the story unfolds and is ultimately pulled together. It's not a perfect musical, but it's a beautiful and emotional one.

I saw Fun Home here in Denver last night..

Very creative, the music was good, singing and acting really well done. It was different though from a lot of other shows I've seen. Small cast, small musical group playing. You can tell it was written for an intimate theater.

It tackled tough subject matter really well.
