My wife and I are coming in from out of town (Milwaukee) for the show. Any recommendations on good places to eat for the weekend? Was hoping to hang out on the beach the day after the show, but other than that, no big plans. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Haha, believe me, I want to. My wife enjoys the yearly Alpine weekend, but she's not quite at the level I am. It took enough convincing to try adding another show, so I'll take what I can get

Staying at the Courtyard Virginia Beach Oceanfront/North 37th Street...using some Marriott points. We'll have a car though so I'm not opposed to venturing out of that area either.

that its amazing. that's about it.

last year they opened the lots late, and it was raining a little bit, so that was pretty irritating. but once they let everyone in it was fine. it's a pretty basic venue, but i personally love it. the pit is a good size, and a good time if you go that route. I prefer lowers here, but a lot of ants line up for rail. technically no tailgating, but you'll see people out there doing their thing and they leave you alone for the most part. that's about it. getting out can suck depending on where you're parked, but that goes for almost any venue.

so you're saying i should hit up a brewery or 2 instead of tailgating.

    no tix yet.

thinking of driving to Richmond after the show to stay the night.

i've never bothered with it. i usually head out during the last song of the encore, unless it's something crazy good...which this year is entirely possible.

but i park in the lot that's right by the main road, and get out no problem after

If you like fish tacos, Baja Cantina on 23rd between Atlantic and Pacific are the best in the city and area IMO. Across the street is Tautogs which is a pretty good place for a bite to eat. Big Sams down off Winston Salem inside of Rudee Inlet has pretty good bar food and decent happy hour drink specials. If you wanna spend some cash the Hilton on 31st and Atlantic has a decent restaurant too.

I've been seeing DMB here for 16 years and tailgated at EVERY single one of them. Just don't be obnoxious and use a solo cup and you'll be fine.

It's more family friendly than a lot of venues, so if you're setting up a rig so you can bong an entire bottle of vodka, someone will come tell you to stop.

If you're hanging out with some friends responsibly enjoying some beverages, you'll be fine.

And someone asked about premium parking - Not worth it here. Really easy to get in and out of this venue, even when staying through the full show, hitting up the restroom, and buying a shirt on your way out.
