    Bumping this thread.

The wife and I are moving into our new digs with a few weeks - wanted to know people's thoughts of Comcast versus UVerse. Does anyone know if there is a contract involved for Uverse?

    Thanks!

my parents had u-verse at their place in CT before moving to NC and being forced to go with time warner. my dad constantly talks about how much he misses u-verse. whenever i was at their place, i liked u-verse way better than comcast, i wish it was available where i am

Uverse shits all over Time Warner Cable. I've had Uverse for like 2 months now after 5+ years of terrible overpriced service from Time Warner Cable. Also my parents used to have DirectTV and I hated that as well. So yeah, I'd say Uverse by and large.

We stayed with Comcast, but didn't extend our contract.
We like the On Demand which Comcast had, U-Verse I believe has, but DirecTV/Dish do not
When we buy a new TV in a few months, I think I am going over to U-Verse - the DVR controls on Comcast are horrible, very non responsive - I keep fast forwarding/reversing, always missing my spots.

I had U-verse my senior year of college, and loved it. Now I'm back in Philly, where Comcast is king, and it sucks. I miss u-verse a lot. Go with u-verse, it's miles better than comcast (and from what I hear, also a lot better than time warner).

Looking at Time Warner vs. UVerse for my new apartment, and I see this thread is fairly old with responses. Does anyone currently have ATT U-Verse and can they vouch for it? Time Warner charges an arm and a leg for cable/internet and UVerse seems to have some really good deals. But I'm worrisome of some of the terrible reviews it has gotten recently via my google search.

I have Uverse. Its ok - not terrible, not great.

The TV service is solid, no complaints on that. They are not going to have as large of a On Demand selection as Comcast or probably even TW, but that was never an issue for me.

The meh part is the internet. It can get fairly slow at peak hours. Not "netflix is completely unwatchable" slow or anything, but definitely noticeable. I am signed up for 24 mbps internet and I usually hover around 10 in actuality. I have seen it as low as 3-4 though.

Yeah the Internet is honestly my main concern. I download a lot of shows after the fact and would like to have optimized downloading times. I just refuse to pay TW $80 for basic cable and a decent Internet speed. With Uverse's package you seem to get way more channels and a better price. Just worried about that internet speed. Thanks for the feedback!

I agree with Arby - internet is slower, on demand is less, but the DVR is great, and so is the picture.

I looked into Uverse but saw that the Internet speeds looked really slow.

I'd love to just have Internet, but sports is my deal breaker, so I fork out for cable. Not sure how long I'll do it though.

Dish for TV (lowest priced basic tier, even cheaper than most basic cable, plus you get like 60 channels), Charter (cable) Ultra 100 for internet. UVerse is too pricey for what they offer plus fuck contracts, deal breaker.

Weird. I have never had any problems with my U-verse internet. I watch a lot of Netflix and VUDU.

The ONLY think I don't like about uverse is that I don't get the Dodger channel, but that is TWC's fault.

Do apps like WatchESPN have any restrictions? Like would I be able to watch every game that's on regular ESPN and ESPN2?

Thinking about maybe just using my parents' DirecTV log in to use that for sports, ditching cable and getting a good digital antenna for local shit.

    Love DirecTv.

Still have to have TWC for internet, but the second Google Fiber is up and running in my neighborhood, I will be done with them forever.

some streaming apps don't support Direct TV log ins. Though that'll probably change with the ATT merger in a year

I am unable to use WatchESPN with my DirecTV account. DirecTV isn't even an option when selecting your provider when logging in.

I have to use a friends TWC login to use it.
