way too expensive imho. i just don't see the point of a mini yet, but i'm sure they'll fly off the shelves.

most definitely.
I've always used 13" and it's been just fine for me.

wait, so the ipad mini has less power and weaker specs than the current ipad, and also does not have a retina display? that's weak sauce.

i guess they're doing the typical apple "let's hold some stuff back, so the next model will look so much better".

my first macbook was 13", and yeah, it was just fine for me originally... but kinda small for some apps.

then i went to the 17" and it's just a whole different world, and there's no way i can go back now.

I'm on the go a lot, and the 13" fits great in my messenger bag with all my other stuff, and I mostly use it for web and website stuff, so I never felt the need to go bigger.

Like iPad and iPhone. I always go for a 16gb because I've never used over that.

My iPod classic 160gb is the most space I've ever bought on a gadget for music of course.

    Apple says:
    "Pre-order yours starting October 26.
Or buy the Wi-Fi model at your favorite Apple Retail Store starting at 8:00 a.m. on November 2.
Wi-Fi + Cellular models available mid November.
    "

Does that mean I can preorder WiFi+Cellular on October 26th or will I have to do that later? Hmm.

i hear ya. the main reason i like the 17" is for when i'm working on shows that i've taped. it's much easier with the extra screen space.

i always had the 13" until my office bought us the 15" retina this year. i felt the 13" was just fine until i went up a size, but 15" has been perfect

i think the mini prices are a tad high as well. i went from getting one for sure to where i'm now waiting to see how they look and feel in person before doing anything. i'd have to have the LTE model and at $459 it just seems too high.

yeah idk I have the 3rd gen retina one... its still pretty solid. So they added lightning and a faster processor... other than that it is exactly the same.

My iPad already doesn't get enough use........

Eh, the only real competition to it from my viewpoint is the Nexus 7 and it's $268 right now on Amazon and there's no cell option. That's a difference of the basic Apple premium in price and their standard charge for the cell radios on that version.

They're keeping their huge margins. I can't blame them really, it's going to sell. If they drop the price a bit later on it will sell absurdly well and would be great insurance to beat any kind of press out of any potential good press a different company's future tablet might get.

The only issue I have is that I know the next one will be great. Probably have retina display and all the bells and whistles.

But like with everything else Apple - I'll buy it then buy whatever comes next too.

i have a nexus 7, and its great, but i've been limited so much by its lack of cellular capability. the extra $200 might be worth that.

I agree completely. I've just had great luck selling used Apple junk and electronics in general. Good resale like Hondas and Toyotas. =p I just consider it a cost of work stuff like suits and keeping a relatively new car due to commuting etc. But since I would be paying for a full size one anyway (already have a 3 and don't like reading for long periods of time on it), getting a smaller, lighter and cheaper one; all good for me.

Wanted one SO bad but freakin work won't let it connect to exchange and the no cell coverage and having to hotspot off the phone would bug me too.

I always sell my old iPhone for the upgrade price of my new one, thus getting it for free. I love how the system works for people who don't like contracts - they buy my shit and I get my new shit on contract for basically free.

    Got it.

Smart TVs have the capability to do the majority of what you said. I have both (smart TV and Apple TV) and I am starting to use my Apple TV less and less since I got my smart TV.

well I have everything go through my reciever anyway, so that's how I do it.

    Apple TV
    DVR
    Blu-Ray
    Xbox

-----> HDMI into the Reciever ---> HDMI out to my TV. Surround sound is all hooked up with the reciever. But your TV probs has a digital audio (SPDIF, toslink, digital wahtever the fuck) also if its newer. hook that shit up to a stereo

I need to upgrade my surround sound. I just have a basic Samsung unit with a CD/DVD player with a sub and some small speakers.

yeah but you should still be able to get audio into that. the apple TV has a optical audio out too so you could just run it directly out from there

Pardon my ignorance, it's certainly plentiful, but what kind of cord would I need? An HDMI? Or something else?
