The Bridge on FX Official Thread

Anybody else check this out last night? I thought it was excellent. My Dad is a huge fan of the Swedish/Danish version. I thought it was one of the better television premieres I've seen.

we talked about it a lot in the TV 2.0 thread. ironically enough thebridge wasn't a big fan. I wasn't either. thought it was loaded with cliches and pretty terrible writing. Kruger is bad in it as well. I'm gonna give it 2 more episodes though before i make a final decision

The premiere wasn't anything spectacular, but I liked it. More than some others on this forum. Seemed to be well-received by some of the online critics. As I said in the TV thread, I want to know what's in the cellar room on that ranch property.

My co-worker just said Grantland has a huge piece (of course) on why this series is awesome.

I haven't watched it or read the Grantland article.

    Edit: Grantland article.

Andy Greenwald is good, so I'll give it another episode based on his review.

Her ass in Troy is probably the only redeeming quality about that movie.

I watched it. Not perfect, — some of the dialogue was a little too on the nose, i.e., the guy who turns around and states the obvious about Marco wanting the case when he asks the captain to work the case; comments that lay out Cross' personality a little too obviously — but it has potential.

Is Cross supposed to have Asperger syndrome?

I'd watch another episode to see where they're going with this, so that's a good sign.

It was OK did anyone feel her character tried to resemble Carrie from Homeland? Eccentric, workaholic who has a medical condition?

The line like "it's your bet, captain" said right then was so cheesy.

I think it has potential to be good, especially with the dude that died and his wife, that story line seems interesting.

That storyline could be good. But we haven't experienced a ton of the wife, gonna be interesting to see how she handles shit.

The Bridge came out before Homeland in Sweden/Denmark. Maybe Carrie tried to represent that character...I haven't seen Homeland.

One final edit: Whoever is doing the killings went through an awful lot of trouble to send a message by putting a bomb in that journalist's car to have it not go off.

The biggest tip off was her boss reminding her to show eye contact when dealing with the grieving husband.

We knew better, too, because of the woman and her dead husband, but I agree with her about holding that ambo on the bridge. You don't know who/what is involved in a scene when you get there. Her instincts were good there.

Yeah, I thought that scene was poor. I didn't need the stakes explained to me. There were enough contextual clues.

I thought the second episode was more promising than the first. I just watched it last night. I'm curious to see how they bring all these different threads together.

So far, I'm most invested in Ruiz. Also feeling like Lyle Lovett's character could turn out to be a bad ass.

How disturbing would it be to wake up next to this hot, strange woman you just slept with and see her looking at pictures of bodies and corpses?

I feel like I've seen a number of these ideas and tropes in other shows and they're all kinda getting thrown in the blender here.

Probably my least favorite of the first three episodes. Still liked it, though. Didn't think the killer and Cross/Marco would be face-to-face so soon.

Are we sure he's the killer and not a pawn in a larger game?

No, I have not seen the original series this is based on.

I liked seeing all of the plots come together. Marco and Charlotte. Bow chicka.

Also, Cross blurting out, "I can't have sex at work."

I have to say the voice of the person orchestrating this whole thing certainly sounds like the killer, even though that wouldn't make sense. I do think that the killer is much smarter than we think and that there has to be another motive.
