While ed is a great song writer and more consistent I don't think his best lyrics touch Dave's best.

Pearl Jam is my favorite band and DMB is in my top-5 ... but my question ... are y'all arguing over personal opinions of two bands???? Isn't the beauty of art how each individual interprets it??

It is kind of ridiculous isn't it? Especially when the two bands aren't really comparable in any way other than they both put on a great live show and have large followings.

Much respect to Pearl Jam. That said, they've never had someone like Roi or Carter in their band.

That about sums up my general feelings. These are my two favorite bands, have been for a long time. Pearl Jam doesn't blow them away. They are both outstanding live acts. But the connection Pearl Jam and Vedder have with the audience, their fan base, is above anything I've ever experienced at a DMB show. There is a fierce loyalty and emotion present at PJ shows.

I wish they'd play the same festival, along with Radiohead and My Morning Jacket. That would be a dream for me.

As someone else mentioned, the energy at a Pearl Jam show is hard to top.

I'm not here to argue either way. I was just stating a fact that I thought was outstanding. I love both of these bands, nothing to argue about here. Go to some PJ forums and you'll find many complaints about their decline as well. The grass is always greener my friends.

And Phish played 98 unique songs in 4 shows (Deer Creek & Alpine).

I don't expect DMB to be PJ or Phish in terms of setlist variation, but they could definitely improve. At this point, I don't even think DMB is on track to hit 100 unique songs songs this tour.
