Beer to me has no season.
Agree to disagree. Personally for me, since I have all 4 seasons, the food i cook and the alcohol I drink changes depending what is in season.

Its summer, I am steaming up lobsters once a week, shucking live shellfish, and smoking meats on the bbq... For me, an IPA, hefe, or hell even a miller light will go better with the food and the setting more than a pumpkin ale.

Now... when I"m doing a carrot/parsnip/pork salt soup come october, bet your ass some pumpkin ale is going in there.

Thats also when the red wine and scotch come into play more often

As for "limiting myself"... i like the rotation. I personally believe that beers like pumpkin ales should be seasonal... after month 3, i'd get sick if it anyways. Best to take it off that way I am craving it 9 months later.

Beers that are good year round are not "flavored" beers in my opinion.

Delirium Tremens, DFH 90 min and 60 min, Weihenstephaner, and Fantome Saison is something i would be happy drinking every month of the year. In fact... i do

The 3 Floyds offering in Beer Camp was pretty good. I'm a third through the box and have really enjoyed it

I don't care when they release beers, but I do laugh when they call them fall releases. It's July it ain't fall no matter what you are releasing

Yea, seeing pumpkin beers (looking at you, Punking!) in July is kinda annoying.

I have all 4 seasons as well, and you better believe i am not refusing to drink a KBS because it's the summer. Not saying I don't love an ipa on the deck outside. But I am not limiting myself due to seasons. I just see no point in that. I understand I am in the minority on this, but that doesn't bother me. Pumpkin beer in July is totally fine with me.

I am also of the opinion that I will drink whatever, whenever. My buddy got a sixtel of BCBS that we will be enjoying this afternoon. The idea of draft BCBS in July is glorious.

Nice. Good session as it's smaller and less rowdy. I hope you have a good time. I ended up not getting tickets for myself today as I might not be in town so drink a few for me.

A local place had BCBS on the other day I certainly didn't let that opportunity pass me by but sadly they had seven empty taps out of 18. They aren't doing well and actually owe my local brewery a bit of cash which means I probably won't be back.

And that's precisely what I was hoping with the session selection. I'm also less inclined to ruin my delicate palate getting started at noon as opposed to 5:30. I was workin' on my pal to agree to a drive to Boulder to run the Mesa Trail as soon as we got off the plane but then Tom Petty added another night at Red Rocks so I have a feeling that isn't going to happen. Time will tell, I'm sure it will be a great time regardless and I'll definitely add a few brews for yourself.

That's a pretty trail. If you can't make it to Boulder you could run around the Red Rocks area if you wanted. Or you could just drink some delicious beer in the parking lot, I mean it's your choice!

There will be a TON of GABF events at bars around town too. Where are you staying?

Heh, we shall see how much lunacy ensues on this trip... kind of why I wanted to get the nice run over with ASAP. Seems there is no shortage of pretty places to run.

Staying at the TownePlace Suites on Speer Blvd.

OK cool, outside Downtown with easy access off 6th and/or Speer.

You have a few breweries within walking distance too.

Lowdown is like a block away on 8th/Lincoln. Decent beer and food.
TRVE is a few blocks south on Broadway. Heavy Metal with some hidden gems.
Renegade is a few blocks north and west. The can several of their beers, I like them, but not earth shattering.
Breckenridge is about a mile west, forgettable IMO.
Black Sky is right near Breckenridge, don't waste your time here.
Wit's End is west of the highway and is a whole in the wall that was making good beers, haven't been in a while though.

That's it for the immediate vicinity, obviously more options downtown.

And do yourself a favor and stop by The Source to check out Crooked Stave's newer tap room

Surly is barrel aging all Darkness this year. I'm very intrigued to see how to see how that changes the beer. I'll know in a little under four months!

Not since I've gotten into craft beers the past three or so years. My understanding is that they've barrel aged it before, but never bottled the BA version.

Went down to New England Brew Co today to grab a growler of ghandi bot but instead was surprised to see they had Locust Reign available. Absolutely delicious DIPA and has a nice 4.56 rate on BA. If you're in the CT area you may want to get down there tomorrow and later next week as they have some nice brews rotating in.
