Do their shows sell out fast? Considering buying a Gorge ticket but haven't seen them outside of a festival setting. Also, anybody know who will be the opener?

So ZBB's new album "Jekyll + Hyde" dropped today. Anyone listening at all? I just threw it on, listened to two songs so far. The first song "Beautiful Drug" is absolutely terrible and sounds nothing like them, feels like a big time pop sellout. The second song "Loving You Easy" is much better, has sort of a 70's groove feel to it. Once I'm all the way through I'll give an overall first impression rating but so far it's looking just alright.

Kind of random, but I thought Id drop in and share some info in case it helps anyone here. ZBB currently has a promotion with Allstate in the following markets:

    Austin TX
    Birmingham AL
    Nashville TN
    San Antonio TX

I think you can take advantage if you are a resident of any of the three STATES though.

Basically the promo is: call an Allstate agent in one of those markets and get an insurance quote. You do not have to buy anything, just get a free quote. Ask about the ZBB promo and they'll give you a code for a free album download. No strings attached.

Worth a shot if you live in Texas, Alabama, or Tennessee.

This new album is all over the fucking place. Some of my favorite tunes of theirs and some of the absolute worst. It feels like they are trying too hard to break out of country by taking on styles that aren't natural to them at all. And then the songs that are country sound more "Nashville" country than ever.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I'm really confused as to what they were trying to prove with this album. Don't get me wrong, there are a few songs I really do like ("Heavy Is the Head", "Castaway", "One Day"), but there is absolutely no flow to this album at all. I was really hopeful for this album considering how awesome The Grohl Sessions, pt. 1 was, but they seemed to, for the most part, abandon that style. I still thing Grohl Sessions is the best stuff they've ever released.

Really hope they reexamine what makes them great during their next studio effort. All the poppy stuff on this album is absolutely awful. The first song honestly sounds like something Katy Perry or Justin Bieber would release. I get wanting to be different, especially since ZB has openly criticized other country artists for pandering too much to the pop sound, but this was a big step back, IMO. They should stick to their more country roots and keep sprinkling in the island-flavored stuff as well ("Jump Right In", "Where the Boat Leaves From", "Island Song", "Settle Me Down", etc. are all some of my favorites).

Best full length for sure. I like the Grohl sessions more.

Seriously questioning if I want to buy tickets this summer.

There's a difference between naturally evolving into different styles and what they've done here. I really don't like it. It's forced, and just not very good. Do what you do well, and if you're going to branch out into different styles at least make it seem authentic. That opening track is so terrible on every level.

I agree, it's probably my favorite off this album. Definitely going on the boat playlist for this summer. Still, I'm really disappointed by a few of the others, particularly "Tomorrow Never Comes" and "Beautiful Drug".

I thought TMC was nice. I can see why people hate Beautiful Drug. It's not terrible but definitely not their sound. I think album flow aside, the songs are very good overall. Dress Blues is an amazing cover.

Sure does. I noticed it as well. Cool as hell

ZBB has made it pretty evident that they have an appreciation for Pink Floyd over their careers. They did a kickass cover of Comfortably Numb when I saw them last Labor Day in Hershey PA.

They're opening their tour in my town and have been in town for about a week or two doing rehearsals in the venue. I've been tempted to walk over and see if there's a chance I could hear them or maybe meet them. Not a real big fan of country but these guys are alright. I've debated on going to the show but I don't know if I actually like them enough to spend the money on a ticket.

Not a fan of the poppy autotune stuff but it's minimal. There are some real gems on this one with some really good vibes. Loving Remedy, Bittersweet & One Day. Junkyard has Pink Floyd all over it.

Anyone else notice the 1:52 mark of junkyard sounds a lot like the riff at 7:57 of Echoes, Live at Pompei...

That part I didn't know but they definitely use ITAOT and it's amazing. One of my favorite Floyd songs. I play it on the piano a lot
