24 even not as great as before will be better than most shows on cable now. Maybe not top 10 but I gotta think that the original writing crew and producers will be back (didn't read links above) to make the show worthy.

Why wouldn't it get locked? We were talking about the exact same thing. Both threads we on the same page.

Maybe a mod could just take out the "?"

I think having it not in the completely real time format will help with breathing some new life into it. The real time format was a completely groundbreaking concept, but after 8 seasons they had really reached the limits of what they could do with the whole '24 hour' concept and still keep it somewhere within the realm of plausibility. The last couple seasons they took some very noticable liberties with this. I think not having the constraints of each episode needing to be in real time will broaden the scope of ideas they have to work with.

But the new thread was intended to be an actual show thread.

This thread wouldn't have stayed active forever. Once the new show started up someone would have made a new thread before bumping this one.

Hopefully a mod can just change the name like you suggested.

So based on some article I read last night, the reboot WILL still be in real-time format, however they will skip hours. So one episode may start at 7 AM, the next at 10AM, the next at 12PM, etc...

The series was great initially but definitely fell off towards the last couple seasons.

Not sure how this would be better than a show like homeland now but I'll check it out

It'll give more flexibility with the plot though if Jack needs to travel, etc. I'd prefer a full 24 episode season as well, but by the last couple seasons before I think they had started to take some liberties with the 'real time' format and cut some corners because they were just running out of things that they could realistically do in that format without repeating stuff they'd done in the past.

Hopefully this new format leads to a little more flexibility for them with the story. The episodes themselves will still be in real time at least.
