YouTube channel proposal for Summer Tour 2016 tapers!
Hey guys I made this post yesterday on DT.org, cross-posting it over here since the forum section on ants seems to be more active. The last time I was big into DMB's online community was back on nancies.org so I'm uncertain about where the best place to discuss this with tapers would be.
Here's the post from DT.org --->
I was thinking of an idea to start a YouTube channel for the complete 2016 Summer Tour. The channel would include a tape of each show with credits/thanks to the original taper. YouTube is lossy and does not support lossless FLAC, and probably ends up getting a lossy compression as YouTube processes it. Each upload would include a note at the top of the video description explaining this to YouTubers and also providing a quick infopack on how they can sign up to obtain their own copy of the lossless original taping here or at ants.
I would hope that this would not only build up a small DMB community outside of ants/DT.org, but it would also bring newcomers to both sites, people who didn't know this existed, and maybe it would do a little bit to tighten the DMB community as a whole.
Each upload would also include a timestamped set list, and the photos for the video would all be directly from Instagram/Twitter from fans and official accounts, panoramic shots from that evening at the venue or the set list photos etc. It would help for people who don't know about this site or ants to relive the concerts they went to, and for people to learn more about DMB tapes and where to get them for themselves. The channel and all videos on it would not be monetized.
What are your guys' thoughts on something like this?
