I was there too and it was pre-John Mayer finding the blues. I have always convinced myself the plug was pulled because somebody had good taste in music.

I'm going to try. Double-booked with high school hoops, but if it ends early enough, I'll be swaying to the Mutet by 9:30

But I will emphasize the 11 p.m. strict curfew. Saw Counting Crows/John Mayer there and then pulled the plug on Mayer in the middle of his encore. So when they say 11, then mean 11:00.00 on the dot.

It's not Red Rocks, but it is a true music venue (not a stadium), so that bodes well for sound and experience.
Shouldn't really be a problem with the two sets thing. I mean last year most shows were done by 10 45. If you're going to end early when you don't have to, I would imagine you end early when you really have to.

Also, I think it's an experiment since the band has never played there before. I'm excited, if they can get quality sound there. The fews shows I have seen including that Counting Crows/John Mayer show had terrible sound even mid grass. I think DMB can dial it in much better than the B acts that come through there, but fingers crossed. Hoping it isn't full of high school kids or soccer moms too. (Do Highschoolers listen to DMB still?)

I hated Dick's so much. Anything is better than that place. Luckily I was up close and the sound was fine, but the venue is so terrible. Denver is In the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the world with great mountain views, lots of open space, blue skies, good people and Dick's has a special way of making you forget all that.

someone said earlier that they did an upgrade to the sound last year and it was much better. still not amazing, but better. im sure that played a role in getting DMB there this year.

I think I might want to go whitewater rafting days prior to the shows...any suggestions on good rivers apx. 2 hours (or less) outside Denver? I know in August the water might be low...

The water will be low in August, still will be fun but probably limited routes open on the rivers. Your best bets will be canon city and buena vista. Both are scenic in their own right but I like buena vista better. Just do a google search for buena vista white water rafting. There is a TON of outfitters along the river there.

If you want something really close Idaho springs has company that rafts from town. I have done it once and was not all that impressed by the river. But if you want to raft and stay close to denver this is an option.

hey thanks for the tip! Buena Vista sounds perfect.

I wouldn't mind doing some kayaking in a more mellow river as well. I'm wondering if Idaho Springs might provide a good float for that?

You know I hear a lot people say the same stuff about Dicks but I hope you realize that it sucked completely for DMB because they couldn't even get close to selling it out and therefore the back of the field and stadium just bounced the sound around and it sounded like shit. There is a reason Phish plays 3 nights there every year and it sells out...its a solid venue. The shows are incredible and so is the sound. My best buddy who flew out for the DMB shows also hates Dicks and we have this same argument everytime we talk about it.

I couldn't agree more with this. The phish shows at dicks are great. Sound is great, vibe is good, crowd is solid. DMB couldn't fill the venue which didn't help with sound in the back of the venue and lower crowds ruined the vibe for many people. If you were up front everything was fine.

I for one like the stadium, for phish shows.

Capacity for dicks is around 27,000, fiddlers is 18,000. Will be interesting to see how close dmb gets to selling out these shows, I don't think either will sell out for lawn tickets. I swear night one at dicks was around 14,000 or less.

After thinking our schedules wouldn't work out for these shows, we got our time off approved! So hubby and I will be driving down from MT for the weekend before heading west for the Gorge. Really looking forward to the drive to Washington afterward, looks like we might divert down into Arches National Park for a couple days since we'll have our camping gear with us for Gorge.

Mason, you requesting pit? Since we can make Denver now, we're not heading down into California for any of the post-Gorge shows.

    Yup agree 100% man

So help me out, I'm torn on if I should go through my friend's warehouse account for ticketing or just go to public sale. Problem is I need 3 tickets and I want lower pavillion. After seeing the dicks shows I'm wondering if it will even be in that much demand and I might save money and get better seats through the public sale. My friend has been with the warehouse since the 1st offered day, so if its senority, then I'm set...however this stupid f'ing 2 ticket rule for lower reserved is screwing me, so I have to move up to upper reserved. Long story short...I'm thinking I can save money and not pay for stupid warehouse costs and get possibly better seats at the public sale...am I crazy to think this? Love to hear your thoughts!~

Stupid two ticket limit. Since you need three tickets and warehouse does not offer three until the upper reserved level, I would take my chances online. If you get online right when tickets go on sale, at worst you pull upper reserved so same as warehouse. At best you pull lower reserved, maybe pit but doubt that since it is so small. I would take my chances.

You could always put in for upper reserved on warehouse and then sell them if you pull something better online. Of course you then have to hope you can sell them for face after the fact, which you should be able to.

18,000 for two nights is a big venue for denver. I remember the Pepsi shows in 2006 for two nights and they couldn't sell that out either.

People always freak out that it will sell out or they won't be able to get tickets. Tickets will be around. There was still solid reserved tickets for dicks on sale the day of the shows.

Thanks man, we're on the same page!

Awesome! Can't wait to see you guys there!! Kevin, is Rachel coming too?

I hope we get approved for pit both nights, as we're doing lawn all 3 nights at the Gorge, so we want to be close (like railed close) for these shows. I guess lower pavilion would be fine one night if we got pit the other.

Was bummed to see you could only opt out of lawn and not choose to only be considered for the selection chosen. Think WH pavilion tickets will be tough to unload (for face of course) if we end up needing to get pit tickets from the presale or public sale?
