Very well put. Most people assume only the dark songs can be complex, which in the past few years has tended to be true, but I believe Lillywhite's big strength in this album is going to be producing more traditional songs with a little extra flair which DMB is famous for.
I think this album will be a "poppier" version of what we've seen in the past. I'm expecting a "Crash" type feel.
The only thing I have low expectations for are the lyrics. But I don't care about lyrics, vocal delivery is what matters to me, and Dave usually tends to come through in a cool way. "Mercy" has generic, recycled lyrics, but I will promise you there will be an extra flair in that song when we hear the full band version. It's actually quite a good melody.
