Looking forward to it. Seems like looking at the history Scranton gets some unique shows. Not necessarily the real critics' favorites, but I certainly didn't go in last year during an album tour expecting to see PM, Granny, Raven, Nancies, and Stay or Leave.

My buds went the year before and got a #41 opener. They said I should have gone.
I said I couldn't because I already had tickets booked to see my first DMB show 3 weeks later in Saratoga (N2) because I was gonna
be up there for business.

Who's laughing now.

Scranton definitely gets some underrated shows. they just get a couple songs that really keep them out of the discussion for best show of the tour. look at 2006 for example. replace that encore with something like Pig > Stay (which were 2 common songs in 06) and that show goes from being known as the worst encore ever to one of the best shows of the year.

thats because everybody who goes to scranton also goes to places like SPAC and Alpine. how could they possibly get the most posts in those threads if they waste their time talking about random crap in smaller show threads like Scranton???? i kind of like how Scranton's thread doesn't get a shit ton of waste in it. if someone needs info, they don't have to spend a half hour trying to find an answer. as shows happen and we get closer to july, this thread will pick up more.

Yeah Sleepr, you are right. Questions always do get answered right away. People just have to ask. It's hard to look back and find an answer but I guess if you just ask again it will be answered.

get there early, like 2-330, because the upper parking lot will fill up quickly. Otherwise you have to take the bus from the baseball stadium up the hill.

The tailgating is phenomenal up on top of the mountain and you can see for 30 miles up there.

Lots of fun.

Must get assigned seats tho, the lawn sucks. Of course, lawns suck anywhere.

Yeah. Back to my comment earlier, my first show was SPAC N2 2008.

Roi only played 3 more after that.

I used to actually avoid DMB when I was in college 99-2003 because I lost some friends to DMB-junkie status. (you all know the types, every philosophical or musical conversation comes back to DMB). Then I met my girl, who was a big fan (but not obsessed), but also equally loved other bands. It was nice to enjoy DMB without being hit over the head with hit all the time. Finally got around to seeing some shows.

Now hopefully Chili Peppers, Radiohead & Wilco tour next year while DMB is off, then I can complete my 'must-see' list.

Though I dont know if I'll ever find a better tailgate.

its not that questions don't get answered in the SPAC thread, its you don't know WHERE the questions were answered. depending on the day, you go back a few hours later and there's an entire book's worth of back reading to do before you find your question.

you definitely want to get in the lower lot on the right. getting stuck up top suck and takes forever to get out afterwords. either get there early, like around 2, or wait until like 7 so you can be at the end of the lot near the exit. you don't want to come in between.

there's a great view of the valley from the lot. and the cops won't bother you as long as you don't act like a fool. it helps to be over 21 too. its a great place to tailgate though. you'll definitely have a blast all day here.

Hershey is one of the worst venue's I have ever been too (my 2 cents). I loev the area, hate the venue setup

Again, if you get there early to get in the top lot for tailgating (2-3), bring enough supplies to hang for at least an hour after the show. Don't waste gas and time sitting in line to get down. Don't be afraid to fire up the hibachi again.

If getting out quick is your thing, then arrive around 4-5 and get in the lower lot and take the bus up.

ONE LAST TIME: IT WILL TAKE 1-2 HOURS TO GET OFF THE HILL....but its totally worth it for the pre-game.

i dont usually tailgate but i dont mind hanging around for a few hours after either.

I usually get there around 4-5, parked maybe mid-mountain and have always walked to the venue, I have seen the buses but never took one. Also never had a problem leaving.

there are only TWO venue lots, not 3. there is the upper lot at the top of the hill and the lower lot on the right. if you are one of the first ones in the upper lot, you will be near or on the ski slopes and it will take FOREVER getting out because you are virtually the last in line. the lot on the right is the best lot to be in, unless you get the very end, near the exit, of the upper lot. if you are not getting there to tailgate, wait until about 630-7 to get to the venue. that way you will be towards the end of the lot near the exit. give yourself 20-30 minutes to get up the mountain from the time you get off the exit.

the last 2 years i got there after 630 and parked in the lot on the right. both times i got out of the lot and down the mountain, back onto the highway within 30 minutes.

last year around 2-3 they were parking people in the lower lot on the right. around 5 they were parking people in the top lot. you really want to avoid the top lot as much as possible. as for the buses, those are for the people parking in the baseball stadium lot at the bottom of the hill. these are not pavilion parking lots. they are only used as overflow lots for crowds that are too big to be contained in the venue lots. you do not have to park in the stadium lot, and you don't want to because taking the bus is awful. if you get pushed into the stadium lot, there is a back exit all the way down on the left. just go out and get back in line until you go up the hill.
