Muddling the truth a bit IMO. No, she did not use her claim to get into college or law school - course no one has seen the application so who knows. That said when she was a professor at Harvard she listed herself as a native American to gain tenure. Could trump be less of a dick about it sure but that woman is such an ideologue it drives me insane so I might tell where to shove her BS claims. Hell, even the Cherokee Nation claimed she was not a member of the tribe, nor a descendant of a member.
So basically she did the right thing by probably not claiming minority status when applying to college but when she came up for tenure she somehow turned into an indian - there is my gripe. People should be judged on who they are, not who their parents or grandparents are IMO - one might as well claim to be part black to move up, same thing different race. She is not on the clinton level just yet but that woman is a pathological liar.
If she wants to prove she has some indian blood in her producer some documentation, original documentation - not copies or take a DNA test to see what the results tell us. Maybe she is telling the truth, maybe not but right now we have no way of knowing because she refuses to make a single attempt to prove it, then again she is a politician so lying comes with the territory - marco rubio claimed to be a son of cuban refugees for advancement when the truth is his parents left cuba nearly 3 years before castro took over.
