Enjoy! I bet that homer off of Arrieta felt amazing for Walker.

If Harvey was 10-4 instead of 4-10 we'd be in first. Not solely blaming him for our standings, but damn, where there hell has he been?

Harvey to the DL for TOS...I'd be very surprised if he ends up needing surgery as surgical interventions are quite rare for this and hardly ever 100% successful. Hopefully this is the reason for his poor performance and he can get over this whole thing.

I'm more concerned that Wheeler isn't on pace to come back until mid-August...he'll be just in time for a playoff push (if they're even in it) but this has been a recovery full of speed bumps, which is never a good sign.

Harvey is done for the season...he's having surgery. Time to get Wheeler on the fast-track to return to the majors.

In all honesty, though, this isn't as big of a blow as it could be. I'm basing this solely on the Mets performance so far this season with a sub-par Harvey, not the Harvey from last year, which he clearly wasn't going to be for the rest of the season anyway. Noah, deGrom, Matz, and Bart all have post season experience so it really could be worse. This is one of the benefits of having such a deep staff; they essentially lost their 5th starter. Hopefully a combo of Verrett/Gilmartin can hold the tide until Wheeler can return.

I don't think we'll see Wheeler until August. I'd give Ynoa a chance if Verrett/Gilmartin don't work out as a starter. And I rather keep one in the bullpen because Bastardo is just bad.

Terry Collins and the Mets organization are such fucking idiots. Day after Harvey announced he's done for the season, they continue to push Syndergaard and looks like he's headed for the DL. Day after Syndergaard leaves early, Collins decides to throw Verrett for the longest outing of the year.

Also, how the fuck did the Mets let Murphy walk

This line up is very pedestrian without Ces. Duda also needs to get back soon, too.

It's beginning to look more and more like this is a wildcard team...which is okay.

They chose Duda and his near .900 OPS over the last two seasons as the man they'd rather extend. The trade for Walker was good too.

Can't fault the Mets. Did we really think that a 32 year old guy who averaged .280/13 HR/70 RBI with mediocre defense was going to continue his torrid and historic October pace over the course of a 162 game season this year?

That's where advanced scouting comes in. There were major changes made to his swing and mental part of game that were the cause of his insane October.

Neil Walker certainly hasn't been a pushover by any means.

But Duda turned down his extension. It was never Sandy & Co's plan to sign Murphy. They offered him the qualifying offer, and they knew he wouldn't take it. Ces wasn't even in the plan either, but I'm glad that worked out.

Mets apparently offered the Brewers TDA for Lucroy. That would be a game changing trade again if that happens, it'd be a massive upgrade at C.

If that is all they offered, that also has to be one of the dumbest trade offers I have ever heard.

I think the Brewers turned that trade down as TDA was offered straight up to Milwaukee, but I just read that the trade, which I believe involved some prospects, is essentially dead at this point. Mets' farm system isn't strong enough at this point (imo) to make a huge trade.

That sucks because I'd love Lucroy on the Mets. I really like Smith and Rosario, but I'd be willing to part ways with Smith for a good hitter. I'm just guessing those were the names on the table. Maybe not Rosario.
