I really dislike Lagano. Ruins the race for me every time he wins. I wanted Larson.

I tried to post and nothing happened, so I switced to my iPad and the result was this mess. I have no idea what happened, but I am going to blame it on Lagano.

So happy for Smoke. I spent the entire day venting about his comments on Friday and about how he was letting his fans down a bit (or so it seemed). Just like only Smoke can, he made me eat my words the same day! I couldn't be any happier about it too!

Can't believe no one in here has chimed in about Junior missing the race this weekend due to experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Looks like I'm the only one who included Alex Bowman on my fantasy team too. Not that I think he'll necessarily do great in the #88, but I have to start save Elliott and Blaney where I can.

The bigger news would be if Junior were to miss the Brickyard next weekend. Jeff Gordon will drive the #88 at Indy if that happens. I definitely don't want Junior to miss any more time than he has too, but Gordon racing at Indy again would be a huge deal.

As awesome as it would be, he's not driven with this new rules package yet and struggled when they took away downforce in the past. That said, few drivers in history have as much natural talent as him.

Between this news and it being Stewart's last Brickyard race, I'm tempted to attend for the first time since 2009. Such a shitty race to watch in person though.

Have to say that the future of NASCAR looks bright with the amazing young talent they have. Love seeing weekends like at Michigan where all the main young guns are up there battling it out.

The youth movement is very much alive, but Larson won't be competitive on a championship level until he leaves Ganassi. I actually expect him to become a Hendrick driver at some point, likely supplanting Kahne. But with Junior's health issues, Hendrick may have to plan for the future earlier than expected. He isn't ready, but William Byron should be groomed for the 88 job eventually. Then let Jimmie drive the 48 until he's ready to go out on his own terms.

The Gibbs dynamic is the most interesting. Kenseth is going to be forced out again just like he was with Roush. He's still more than capable of winning races, but Gibbs will have to look toward landing a permanent option for Erik Jones. That second Furniture Row team he'll be racing for next year won't be enough. That doesn't even take into account the additional young talent in the Gibbs association. No one has a better developmental program.

its definitely going to be interesting to see what happens over the next 2-3 years or so with so many older drivers on the verge of retirement and so many young guys coming up.

i don't see kahne sticking around hendrick either. just one of those guys who couldn't put it all together consistently, which is a shame. i think junior will be back full force next season. this season is a wash at this point, so just take time to get 100% and then come back. concussions are tough. they can be better in a week or still cause problems a year and a half later. but dale seems to be progressing, which is good. jimmie i'm sure has a deal like gordon where he has a seat until he decides not to race anymore. having chase and kyle as the heirs to the hendrick thrown with jimmie their to guide them would set up hendrick for another decade.

what you brought up about gibbs is interesting. furniture row has been talking about a 2nd team for a while, so this 2nd ride is going to stick around past next season. if kenseth does get the boot from gibbs, do they basically make a trade with him and jones? getting a guy like kenseth would be huge for furniture row, similar to the season they had busch. they could get a few years of a solid older driver who can still win and help develop truex further. and it would give matt some stability in his last few years.

I don't see them being able to sell Kenseth on that swap. He's made some pretty snarky comments about only being under contract through next year and how they haven't even talked about what happens beyond that. I think Erik Jones takes over the 20, and Daniel Suarez takes over the 77.

I like both drivers....but that was the most vial post race interview I have ever watched. Totally out of line from Newman. He is a driver that is frustrated that he will be looking for a ride again soon. I was impressed Smoke was able to keep cool in his interview.

Also, Matt Kenseth straight up scares me haha
