I wonder what the fan reaction would be if they announced Butch would be joining them on the tour in 2018.

More tickets, less tickets, or the same?

Wonder if that is a soundboard of tripping billies from last Mexico? If so---geeze his voice was rough.

22 posts in 10 years? This is a gem.

Any inkling that DMB will tour next year is pure speculation.

I think they'd sell more tickets. Especially if they s mentioned something about a throw back line up or some other clever marketing campaign. I'd probably go to more shows

Why on earth would they sell more tickets because Butch Taylor would be back with the band? To hear 20 minute keyboard solos? Pass. It's not like he's a big name and annual concert goers who are casual fans would clamor to buy a ticket to the show. Maybe your being sarcastic by asking and I missed it.

I'm with you man. Been a diehard for 20 years. Didn't even think twice about not purchasing concert tix or new vinyl this year. They are the Notre Dame of music. Their best years are behind them. New music uninspiring, same with setlists. So many better bands putting out better music and performing better shows.

If you want Butch back while hoping he doesn't come back as '05-'07 Butch, than you'd want Tim on stage as well. Having Tim around would probably serve to reel in Butch.

Probably the same because the majority of people at full band shows don't even know the 3.0 lineup to begin with.

I would guess little impact. Don't feel like people went to a ton more shows when Tim came back, and it seemed like more people wanted him back than they want Butch back.

Disagree with this. While there definitely people there that don't know it's far from a majority.

You're right. I stretched the truth a bit but there is a percentage that have no clue. Going off personal experiences too. I would love to see Butch back though.

Yeah there are still people who show up to a show and have absolutely no idea Tim is with the band, and this is going on 10 years with two albums. The majority of fans wouldn't know Butch from Fred and it wouldn't impact their ticket buying.

As I have offered in various other threads, people like this need to put their money where their mouth is. You seem especially certain, so I will offer 5:1 odds of the band NOT playing a tour next year, up to $200. Funny how the offer is never taken up! I've offered 20:1 before, but you seem to have inside information...

If they weren't gonna tour, why the hell would they say they will? If it was unsure they wouldn't say shit. We have stuff from 3 band members in different instances saying it.

Sure anything can happen but the odds are much higher it does. So it's far from "pure speculation" as he put it.

I'd be interested in getting in on this, are you willing to agree on a couple things?:

    - If they were to announce a new album, well then yeah, they're gonna tour. All bets off if they announce a new album

    - Outside of a new album announcement, I'm betting that the core remaining combination of Dave/Carter/Boyd/Stefan will not play more than 5 shows in 2018; I don't care what the rest do. They may play the HOF induction and a charity show or two, but I'm saying no "tour". 5 shows keeps us from arguing whether or not it was a "tour"

    $100 at 5:1?

    Count me in.

By "the band" do you mean full DMB, excluding Dave & Tim and Dave solo, correct?

The bet is that the core Dave Matthews Band will not play a show next year?

I'm stunned and pissed it's not full band. I went to D&T Mexico this year and I will not be going again for another D&T show. If full band DMB were playing, I would be there in a hot shit minute and bringing more friends with me. I've talked to others that went to the first D&T Mexico trip that aren't going in 2018. Too much coin for two years in a row for only D&T. I can't imagine the second year will be as successful as the first year. This is very disappointing.

Full band will be back in 2018, in fact I predict they will announce the tour the week after Mexico which will piss everyone off who went concerned that there would be no tour in 2018

I think he thinks the same as you....

I too would like in on this. At 5:1 I'd take them playing shows

By "the band" do you mean full DMB, excluding Dave & Tim and Dave solo, correct?

The bet is that the core Dave Matthews Band will not play a show next year?
