Re: Favorite beer of choice?

I've never tried one. I looked into a few, but they seemed overly pricey vs. just going to the beer store and picking out new stuff on my own. I could see it being more useful for people who lived somewhere with little good beer available nearby etc. though.

yeah, that's kind of where i'm coming from. Not much in the town i live in, a decent store about 25 minutes away, and nothing with a good 'build your own 6 pack' selection. I figured this might be a good alternative.

Even though I live in Maryland, I recently joined a Pennsylvania Beer Club because PA seems to have a great selection of beer, but you can only buy beer by the case! The beer club has worked out great because a couple people will buy cases and sell singles to members. Also, there is an option to sign up for a "make your own case". Basically, twelve people comprise a group, and each month different groups have different themes (i.e. winter ales, Belgians, German beer, etc). Each member of the group buys a case and splits it with the rest of the group so you wind up with a case of twelve different beers. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Had some Great Divide Hibernation Ale last night. Probably the best winter ale I've had. Really crisp and smooth, nice subtle hops. Tasty tasty beer.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Great Divide has some good stuff.

You should try Great Lakes Christmas Ale. It's great.

I had the 2009 Anchor Christmas Ale, and I gotta say...big thumbs down. I just don't really like it. It's got a tree on the front, and that's all I could think of while drinking it. Tastes like a burnt tree somehow. Not a fan. Blah. I've still got 4 more to down. $11.99/6 pack, wish I could've just gotten a single.

Yeah, Great Divide is fantastic. Hibernation was really, really good. I had no idea until today when I read about it that it was 8% abv. Solid stuff. I'll be picking up a 6 pack soon as I can.

I picked up a little Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale earlier. Never had it, but I've heard good things. Just waiting on it to get cold.....

Dogfish Palo Santo is probably in my top 10 beers. Absolutely exquisite. Almost like drinking a nice whiskey.

They're pretty light, all their beers are. Even their Creamy Dark. What I like of theirs:

    Creamy Dark
    Classic Amber
    Red
Fireside Nut Brown (great for this season)
Honey Weiss (to a lesser extent)

Most people know Leiny's for their fruity, awful (and I mean really really bad) beers:

Sunset Wheat (easily top 5 worst beers of all time, can't even drink one)
Berry Weiss (Juicy Juice beer, not bad to drink though)
    Summer Shandy (lemonade beer)

They're alright overall. Not too experimental though. Out of Wisconsin. New Glarus (of Spotted Cow notoriety) is better.

30 packs of PBR = the best deal for the most broke of ass. natty ice is disgusting and an almost guarenteed hangover, what is it 5.9 of stank? fuck that.
Molson Ice - my mid-grade brew if I want to get a nice buzz going without getting completely wasted I drink a sixer of this. 5.6 baby, a delicious 5.6
and lately I've been diggin on some blue moon occasionally too. I don't really like the darker beer, it tastes like coffee or something, way too thick for me (twss).

as of right this second I'm sippin on some jack.

Leinenkugel's always lets me down. Creamy Dark and Fireside Nut Brown are decent, but the rest...meh. You're right, though, New Glarus makes some seriously quality brews.

Sorry, possibly going to Palo Alto in a few months for a tournament, so it was on my mind today.

e: Shortly after I bought it, I saw an article that listed great beer pairings for Thanksgiving, and this one was listed for DFH. I'm really excited to try it!

When the say vanilla, they MEAN vanilla. I wouldn't be surprised if people think the vanilla taste is too strong. I tried it a few weeks ago at a Breckenridge Brewery beer tasting and thought it was delicious. Plus, my local store just started getting some of their stuff, so I had to pick it up.

I decided to support my local brewery (Duclaw) tonight and picked up a growler of their seasonal release "Devil's Milk" barleywine. It is actually pretty stellar. The hops and malt are well balanced and it has a nice bit of complexity as it warms up a bit. Anyhow, I also wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving!!! Enjoy your time with your families and loved ones and don't forget to pop open some brews with dinner and dessert. I can't think of any better way to pay homage to the pilgrims then to drink some fine craft beer. They did in fact choose to land at Plymouth Rock partially due to a beer shortage!

    Is Your Sex Life Normal?

Do you ever find yourself wondering if your sex life is normal? Do you equate frequency with normalcy? Do you compare your sex life with your friends’? If yes don’t worry you are not alone! A lot us sometimes fret needlessly about our sex-lives and sex-drives, thanks to the numerous myths about sex.

I usually just consume mass quantities of beer and let the rest work it out by itself, kthxbye.

The 1st Annual Christmas Beer Run went down yesterday and achieved some fine results! In addition to the Xmas Ales, I bought a bottle of 1994 Thomas Hardy Ale and shared it with a buddy last night to celebrate his recent engagement. This was by far the best beer I have ever had. As a matter of fact, it didn't taste like beer, more like an expensive red wine. Unbelievable and worth every bit of the 17 bucks it costed for a 6 oz nip size bottle! Anyways, here is what I came up with as far as Xmas Ales goes.

Agree with whoever said the Anchor Christmas Ale is awful. I tried it last year (the pretty bottle lured me in too) and poured it out after a few sips.

Agree with whoever said the Anchor Christmas Ale is awful. I tried it last year (the pretty bottle lured me in too) and poured it out after a few sips.

Aigh. I'll drink em, but it's just not my fancy.

I liked the Anchor Christmas last year. Haven't tried this year's yet.

Definitely a very unique beer for sure, so I could see it being a like it or hate it kind of beer.

As a matter of fact, it didn't taste like beer, more like an expensive red wine. Unbelievable and worth every bit of the 17 bucks it costed for a 6 oz nip size bottle! Anyways, here is what I came up with as far as Xmas Ales goes.

The only three I've even seen before are the above bolded. I bet they'll all be pretty good though.
