I think you're right about the TE position. It seems like they wanted Crabtree or Quarless to be that guy but neither one is up to the task. Have to go find another hidden gem out there.

    How bouts this?

    WR-Nelson
    WR-Jennings
    WR-Cobb

    TE-Finley
    TE/WR-Gurley

Looks to me like it was a mistake to sign Jones like they did...Cobb could be like a Welker in this offense IMO...can you trade Jones at this point? Bring back Driver too.

I don't know a lot about gurley but they could use a big blocking type who has the ability to catch a ball or two per game. Jones had a strong year IMO and cobb can continue being the special teams weapon as well as maybe 10 offensive snaps per game next year. Brig back driver, then when he retires, move Cobb up the chart.

For WR's I think the depth chart this season was:

Jennings, Nelson, Driver, Jones and Cobb

For next year I'd assume they swap Driver and Jones and maybe get Cobb to focus on returns. Maybe let Cobb loose in the preseason to see if he can be a #1 or #2 WR in a year or two.

I think part of Finley's attitude is he knows there's no one else on depth chart that could take his touches away. Get the guy some competition, that should help him get his head out of his ass.

    Good bump.

I hope the Pack address their needs on the o line and the pass rush (to protect their secondary more), and survive the injury bug again to make another deep run next year.

And no more resting players at the end of the year...

I'd have no doubts, that if we beat KC and finished 16-0, we were gonna go all the way. I know I felt that the KC loss was more than just the 19-0 dream, it really took a lot out of the team.

I trust TT to pick up the right tools, perhaps even a free agent for once to help us out.

Aaron got 48 of the 50 first place votes. Landslide!

He's now the 4th Packer to win the MVP award.

I was agruing with my friend Eric today. He is a Bears fan so of course he is always difficult and thinks he knows it all. We started talking about HOF'ers on one team. I threw the 1962 Packers out there to make my case as a fan.

I checked online to be sure but that particular team had 10 Hall of Famers on it (Adderley, Davis, Gregg, Hornung, Jordan, Nitschke, Ringo, Starr, Taylor and Wood) and it actually is 11 if you count Lombardi (which I do).

In checking some sporadic teams the closest I could find was 9+1 in the 1979 Steelers.

Just my fun Packers fact of the day...

Correction: I checked the 1961 roster for the heck of it and they also had Emlen Tunnell, which makes it 11+1 in the HOF.

Obvious would be Woodson. Rodgers is on his way. Everyone else is debatable at this point. I'd guess Driver, Jennings and Matthews could be in the discussion someday. Maybe a lineman or two.

I think we'll never see that many HOF'ers on one team anymore because they all stuck together for almost a decade. I know we'll never see 5 championships in 7 years again either.

No on driver or Jennings. Only two would be rodgers and Woodson IMO. There are others who could blossom but if Chris carter oat a hall of famer, neither are our receivers/

I thought it was an odd suggestion too.

But to be honest, if in the unlikelihood it did happen, that would get the stadium issues moving pretty fast.

    Thoughts on Finley?

I hope he doesn't push the issue of him being a "WR" because frankly, he just isn't. Something tells me this is gonna be a tough signing. Maybe I'm getting bad vibes from the way I perceive his attitude and personality, but I really think he should realize he hasn't produced nearly as well as he should be. I feel we need to make his signing a major priority and get the deal done as soon as we can, whether that's franchising him at 5.5M or giving him slightly more. Still, franchising him as a WR at 9M should be out of the question.

Well, Finley gets 2 years, 15 million (via twitter). Not really a long term deal but interesting that they didn't franchise and may have saved it for Flynn. Who knows?

I'd like to see the Pack do a sign and trade with Flynn to get something back for him. He deserves a shot at starting somewhere.

That's what I'm hoping for. The key is getting two teams that covet him so they can bid against each other.
