Pit Ticket procedure 2013

Does anyone know how Pit Tickets have been dealt with at the venues this year? Going to the Gorge and I want to know what to expect because last year at other venues it was horrible.

For example, this year they are shipping tickets, not having them picked up at will call with ID. Also, last year you had to have a bracelet to get into the pit area. Is the bracelet line back?

I assume the GA pit line for entry is separate from the GA lawn line? Does anyone know how this has been in years past for the Gorge specifically? If so what time do they generally let people in? Or more to the point, what time do I need to start waiting in line?

I feel like a super newbie asking these questions, but the past few years I have had reserved tickets and didn't need to pay attention to the waiting in line details of general admission entry. Not to mention the awful tradition of sprinting to a spot.

Thanks for any help you all can give me.

They are doing wristbands for pit this year.

At the 5 stops I attended this year where I had Pit or Field, they had a booth outside the venue wristbanding people, so that you didn't have to mess with it when you get inside.

There's no separate line for GA pit entry. There is a separate WH entry line, that will get you in 15 minutes earlier than the main line.

Gate times vary by venue, but it's usually between 5 and 6 ish.

If you want to be center railed, you're going to have to sit in line all day. Not sure exactly how early people are lining up these days though, as I give no fucks about being railed and usually roll up around gate time.

Thanks Matthew, this was very helpful, and good to know about the warehouse entry line. I'll probably just head down there around a little before gate time as I don't have to be that close either.

Thanks for the info. This is my first year with WH pit tix (13th year WH member and sadly yes, this is my first year) and I have no idea how this works. I assume this tour will follow suit from last year... I'm with you in that I really don't want to wait all day in line for center rail. If I line up right before the 15 minute early WH pit entry how good/bad will my spot in the pit be, hypothetically??

    Thanks so much

    Re: Pit Ticket procedure 2013

I mean, it all depends on the venue and how many people line up early at each one, but I think if you go in right at gates, you'll be in the first few "rows" in the pit, a little farther back if you want to be centered, a little closer if you're willing to be off to the side.

As to pit procedures this year, I have no reason to think they'll be different from last year, but I'm in the pit for both Texas shows so I'll update this thread with more info on this year's goings ons after the shows.

I've seen people in line at the warehouse gate 3-4 hours before gates opening. If you get in line 15 min. before they open you could easily have 100+ people in front of you in line

Be aware that venue security doesn't try to fuck you in the ass, like they did at Dallas last year. There was a WH pit line, and a GA pit line. They ended up combining the two lines after everyone got through the gates, WH people still in front though. They ended up splitting the line in half, meaning, late WH people and GA people were in the front of the second line. This second line was sent over to the other side of the venue and got let in about 10 or so seconds before the first original line, so by the time I got to the pit, the rail was almost completely full, after I had been in line all day, #3 in the WH line. I just about cut a bitch. At first I thought the venue let another line form on the other side of the venue, but apparently that wasn't the case.

So all of this is good reason to not give any fucks about railing!

Same as last year, wristbands outside the venue.

I thought I've heard in the past that they hold your ticket when you get the wristband. Are they doing that this year? Or just putting an X on the ticket?

How filled/crowded is the pit? going in the Pit in Camden for the first time this year. I'm going to be honest, I've been to a lot of shows, and never really paid attention to how filled the pit gets. I'm fine being towards the back of the pit- don't need rail- but I would like a little room to move. Thanks!

In the back and the sides there is usually room to breathe.

Had room to spin around with my arms outstretched in the Dallas pit.

Woodlands pit got pretty tight because security kept walking people without pit tickets into it.

They put a smiley face on the back of the ticket at both Texas shows.

Don't remember the exact year they took up tickets but it was around '09 or so, and was a clusterfuck.

Smiley face on the back is good. I remember hearing about the mess when the tickets were collected, as well as some shows where they put a big X on the front.

Last year they marked the front of the ticket with an X at a few shows. At fucking Austin, they X'd the front AND tore the end off. Was so mad.

Taking up the tickets was annoying because you couldn't get your actual ticket back afterward, and if you weren't quick on the draw, you'd end up getting a LN ticket back when you had a WH ticket.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but I've heard on numerous accounts that the Camden pit is terrible. Never been in the pit myself, but from the view I had, it looked like they packed em in there like sardines.

Go to the Camden thread (if you haven't already) and look for discussion there. you can probably just search the word "pit" in that thread and be able to find plenty of chatter about experiences.

All this said, not every pit is bad. The experiences I've been in have worked out great.

I've heard the Atlanta PIT is similar. Hopefully I can get some breathing room. I don't need to be in the front row. I was thinking about trading my ticket for a lower lever, but I figured I need to experience the PIT once in my life.

I don't know if it matters, but my ticket says PIT LEFT. You have WH pits right?

If you have LN pits like me, I can go in with you and be part of the crowd that helps you keep that spot. Let me know.

Left/right/section/row doesn't matter on pit tickets.

We've got Warehouse and going in early.

Hahaha... I passed on offers for Camden pits... no thank you.

After seeing what that pit looked like last year, how packed it was and the lack of airflow, I was more than happy with my seat tickets.

That's one pit I will not opt for and will always gladly turn down.

VA Beach: 6am. We were around 15th in line at that point. People had set their shit up the night before, but it stormed, and then the cops made them leave.

Bristow: 745pm or so? Back of pit, which is the prime spot anyways.

They haven't had wristband tents inside, so make sure to get it outside the gate, or they're handing them out when you enter the pit this year.

Was in Pit for Woodlands and Dallas. Rolled in around 7:30pm. No issues getting in; wristband outside the venue as usual.
