That is a sweet album. Let it Be (album) seems to be forgotten a lot, at least in my social life.

Re: **All You Need Is Love - The Official BEATLES Thread**

i think one of the most under-rated beatles songs is "Within You Without You." I love the eastern/indian music, and it has some really obscure, yet straightforward lyrics:

    We were talking
About the space between us all
    And the people
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
    Never glimpse the truth
    Then it's far too late
    When they pass away.

    We were talking
About the love we all could share
    When we find it
To try our best to hold it there
With our love, with our love
    We could save the world
    If they only knew.

Try to realise it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows within you and without you.

    We were talking
About the love that's gone so cold
    And the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see
    Are you one of them?

    When you've seen beyond yourself
Then you may find, peace of mind,
    Is waiting there
And the time will come when you see
We're all one, and life flows on
    Within you and without you.

    Oh, Ken.
I've known you since we were ten.
And you were a complete bastard then.
    Ken.
    - not the Beatles, but Nigel Planer is pretty funny.

I agree that Old Brown Shoe doesn't get enough love.

"For your sweet top lip, I'm in the queue..." Love it.

George wrote some of the greatest lines... not necessarily the best compositions all around, but some great lines.

Dig a Pony might be my favorite on that record. To be honest, naked or not, I've never really enjoyed long and winding road.

A Day in the Life is amazing! I feel it's their best song. I do think the White Album is their album. I can listen to that whole thing from start to finish.

I like the fact that each of their major albums gives you a different feel. sgt. pepper I think really gives you a chance to feel what was going on at the time...abbey road has such great closure to it.l...white album is just a very happy album, imo.

I can't believe this has never been a thread until now... It's a crying shame is what it is. Big ups to the Beatles, both living and dead. I've always thought that the most influential person in the 20th century in America was John Lennon, slightly edging out FDR. The Beatles are the best band ever, and there's a drastic drop down to number 2. I just can never get enough of them.

    • Abbey Road is the greatest album of all time.
    • Something is the greatest love song of all time.
    • John Lennon was the greatest song writer of all time, Paul McCartney is number 2, and George Harrison was top five in history.

    This thread rocks my life.

haha i like your enthusiasm - i agree with most of your ideas, but maybe not all the details (but its close)

    - Sgt. Peppers is the greatest album of all time (Abbey Road is #3 after Revolver haha)

its amazing that the beatles were so good - some people say Abbey Road is the best album ever, and I think its only the number 3 beatles album. but no matter what you think, Sgt Peppers, Abbey Road, Revolver, and the White album are in the top 10 of best albums all time

Paul was much more of a father to Julian than John ever was. He did write "Hey Jude", after all.
