Very much so. Everything that he "did" for world peace was really just a way to get him and Yoko on television. What does staging a bed-in really do? Um, nothing.

its amazing that the beatles were so good - some people say Abbey Road is the best album ever, and I think its only the number 3 beatles album. but no matter what you think, Sgt Peppers, Abbey Road, Revolver, and the White album are in the top 10 of best albums all time
To each his own... Abbey Road I prefer over all other Beatles albums, but I know others are more highly critically regarded. They're all good.

In the course of my lifetime I have bought the Abbey Road album 4 times, and kept maticulous care of them. I have spun them to skipping -- There's no other album that I've bought more than once in that manner.

What is all this business with Dr. Ebbettes and Purple Chicks?

These are basically leaked tapes of all almost anything that was recorded in the studio and some outside the studio. I've heard it known as the Beatles Mythology, which is basically like 110 discs worth of material. Purple chicks organizes it very well, though.

They are all really interesting to listen to, I've not heard close to all of it, but I've heard a bunch and the most interesting things that have come out of them, for me at least are:

-George was a realllly bad guitar player for the first couple years. He messes up so more than anyone it's kind of annoying haha

-It was George's idea to get the cops come to the rooftop concert, cuz they couldn't figure out how to end it.

-Yoko Ono recorded on a voice recorder during The White Album sessions and she says some bizarre things, most notably to me, "I'm at the studio, John is recording a record album or something." That may not be a direct quote but it's close.

there's a ton more, but they are def worth downloading.

Agreed, though I'd probably rank Here, There and Everywhere as better than both.

    Most underrated Beatles song?

    Dizzy Miss Lizzy. So funky.

Top 5 Beatles songs of all time:

    1. Oh Darlin'
    2. All My Loving
    3. Happinness Is A Warm Gun
    4. Across The Universe
    5. I've Just Seen A Face

Ask me tomorrow and I'll give you a completely different group. Seriously, does anybody not get happy when they hear "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you; Tomorrow I'll miss you; Remember I'll always be truuuuuue"

I don't know if it's the most underrated, but it is underrated; great song.

EDIT: Most underrated song could possibly be Please Mr. Postman. Not an original by them, but goddamn that's a good one.

To all of this. The top 5 changes multiple times in a day, supposing I'm listening to them.

an often overlooked album because of the legendary status of rubber sould, sgt peppers, etc however it is such a good album and deserves more recognition

The Beatles pre-Rubber Soul pop albums (I'll include Help! but it was more transitional) are underrated in general.

    Pop does not equal bad.

Albums like Please Please Me, With The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night are proof of this.

    Some clarification:

Dr. Ebbetts releases are insanely good vinyl transfers. They are amazing. Since he started his work, I have listened to his releases over my store-bought CD's (which I've had for years).

Purple Chick releases tend to be more compilations of numerous outtakes stereo/mono versions, etc of different releases. Purple Chick doesn't generally do its own vinyl rips, but uses those done by others for the "official" tracks and then sources the alternate cues/cuts and various outtakes, etc from numerous other bootlegs and sources.

    Good stuff.

This is kind of a new renaissance in Beatles boots these last couple years. I haven't seen this much stuff hitting the market since the early-mid 1990s. I was in Jr. High then and hunted high and low for any release I could find. My avatar is the old Yellow Dog logo.

I love this stuff. If you want to really dig in deep to Beatles boots, check out the forum at bootlegzone.com. More details and info than most would ever want with regards to the Beatles.

Greatest song-run in music history? Defy me, I dare you:

    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Happinness is a Warm Gun
    Martha My Dear
    I'm So Tired
    Blackbird
    Piggies
    Rocky Raccoon

It gets no better than that.

I bought the Anthology Book back in 05 when I went to see DMB at Red Rocks... I highly reccomend it to any fan. It's so comfy to read and very personal.

One of my favorite stories is when they all went to Germany the first time around, they started expanding their sexual knowledge...except for George, who was the last to get laid. At the time they were all sleeping in a single room, in bunk beds and when George finally brought in girl, he had to bang her with everyone else in the room "sleeping". And as he put it "They were very polite and quiet during, but afterwards I recieved a round of applause".
