Rental price would be pretty high for David Price IMO. Definitely not worth it for a team with a 23% chance of making the division series....

Then it's not a rental price....

    Glad he went to Toronto.

I doubt he stays there beyond this year and there's no compensation pick attached to him.

Didn't happen because the Padres decided they are contenders.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Padres largely standing pat because GM A.J. Preller believes the team can reach the postseason, source says.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Padres were working to acquire a left-handed reliever late.

7 1/2 out of the 2nd Wild Card with four teams ahead of them.

    Re: Chicago Cubs

    Entering today the roster was:

    Rotation:
    1. Lester
    2. Arrieta
    3. Hammel
    4. Hendricks
    5. (open)

    Pen:
    Rondon
    Grimm
    Motte
    Soriano
    Wood
    Strop
    J. Russell
    Medina
    Rowen

    Catchers:
    Schwarber
    Ross
    Teagarden

    Infielders:
    Rizzo
    A. Russell
    Castro
    Bryant
    Herrera

    Outfielders:
    Coghlan
    Fowler
    Soler
    Denorfia

The 25 man is going to be weird because the Cubs will still need a 5th starter on Sunday (Haren pitched yesterday). They've already designated Rowen for assignment. My guess is Medina gets sent back to Triple-A.

I'm more interested in the position player shakeup that should be coming. Montero wants to be back soon. Baez and LaStella are going to be on this team, and Olt could be a valuable power bench bat. Obviously you just swap out Montero for Teagarden, but what about the other guys? Denorfia isn't going anywhere. Maddon seems to like Herrera. Do you demote Castro?

Being 10 over .500 is a nice place to be.

Being tied for the second wild card again is good.

Next week of games is scary. Let's all pray Bryant injury isn't serious.

KB supposedly fine. Of the next 7 we have Lester and Arrieta twice. We miss cole and i think Madison... This is good.

KB has been struggling lately. Cannot have both he and Soler struggling down the stretch for us to make a run. If either of those guys could take a step forward it would be a huge help but I am not expecting it.

Need Baez ASAP. Castro needs to be shut down for a while. He is just bad at baseball right now. Having one of the worst Cub seasons in recent memory.

Soriano to the DL with a phantom injury (right shoulder inflammation is official story). Clayton Richard opts for FA and re-signs with Cubs, and he's heading to the pen.

It's easily the biggest series since October 2008.

Under no circumstance can they get swept. Losing 3 of 4 would be awful. A split here is a must. Hopefully they can actually take 3 of 4.
