Fantasy Football 2015: Talk, Advice, & Start 'em, Sit 'em

Let's get this party started!

There was a 2 round 12 team ppr mock draft on the Sirius Fantasy sports channel the other day. Thoughts?
1. Antonio Brown
2. Odell Beckham Jr
3. Demaryius Thomas
4. Dez Bryant
5. Jamaal Charles
6. LeVeon Bell
7. Jordy Nelson
8. Matt Forte
9. Eddie Lacy
10. Arian Foster
11. Rob Gronkowski
12. Andrew Luck
13. AJ Green
14. TY Hilton
15. Adrian Peterson
16. Marshawn Lynch
17. Julio Jones
18. Randall Cobb
19. Mike Evans
20. Calvin Johnson
21. DeMarco Murray
22. Alshon Jeffrey
23. Julian Edelman
24. LeSean McCoy

Anyone interested in a $10 draft only league? Winner gets $100. I can create a private league if we can get 12 people. It's good practice for drafting and seeing where players are going. We can run them every few weeks if people are interested.

http://football20.myfantasyleague.com/2015/public#0

Here is a summary of what these leagues are all about:

-Slow Email style drafts with up to 8 hours per pick. These are NOT Live Drafts.
-20 Rounds with a Serpentine Draft. The draft order is randomly assigned after the league fills up.
-The draft can last as long as 2 weeks to complete all 20 rounds.
Starting Lineup = 1 QB, 2 RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 Defense. -There are no Kickers.
-There is no limit to the number of MFL public leagues you can join, but one team per league is the rule.
-These are Draft Only Leagues, so your best lineup is automatically used each week. (full roster mangement leagues will be available to join sometime after the NFL draft).

Beckham is going to go way too high and I'm fine with it.

Julio Jones dropped way to low. Bell as rb2 is too high, missing 3 games and playing a tougher schedule. Same with Brown, no interest in taking him #1 overall. That offense won't replicate what it did last year.

I'm in a 2 QB league so our first three picks are usually any combo of Brees, Rodgers or Manning... this year Luck most likely replacing Manning. After that, I can very easily see Brown going. I would have no hesitation taking him at 4 if I missed out on the top 3 QBs. Heck I'd even take him over Brees in a 2 QB PPR league.

Who else would you have going first overall?

This will sound arrogant, it's not meant that way, but it's funny to see guys who won me 2 leagues (and I'm sure many of you) last year ranked so high this year; OBJ, Nelson, Forte, Lacy, etc. The trick is to find the guys who slip and go under the radar to replicate the same outcome. 'You can't win your league in the first two rounds, but you can lose it.'

Out of that list, I feel like AD is ranked too low and Mike Evans too high. Great target, probably plenty of garbage time stats, but I'm not chasing that with a Round 2 pick.

I think Shady could be a bargain this year... Think I'm going to go WR/WR or WR/TE first 2 rounds though because I think there are so many good RBs that pop up on waivers and so many early RB selections bust.

Deep WR/TE core is what got me to my championship game last season. That and Russell fn Wilson.

Probably be gunning for a Graham/Wilson combo this season.

RBs are a dime a dozen now a days with injuries and the amount of teams employing the two and three headed monster approach.

This can be quite true, but I'm still going to try and get at least one RB early I think, unless Gronk or a top WR are still around. I was fortunate enough last year that my RBs were a mix of Forte, Murray, Lacy and Ingram and not the bust group.

Mock drafts, strategies and the regular season cannot get here soon enough - ready for actual NFL action.

Where I have to be careful is not taking Brady too high just because I want him on my team this season.

Definitely will try and target R. Wilson where I can, he's been great for me the previous 2 seasons. I know Luck and Rodgers will still be a little rich for me, so some bargain QBs could include: Ryan, E. Manning, Tannehill and Bradford (if you like to live dangerously)

The dual threat with Russell is so valuable. He had a number of 20+ point games for me last year and of course a few 30+ point games.

No chance in hell McCoy is falling to the end of Round 2.
    He's a top 5 pick.

Shady has a big red flag for me this year. First year on the new squad that is going to center its offense around him. Most teams are going to load up the box and make Manuel try and beat them with his arm.

it was so nice the last two seasons, to just sit back and load my team at every other position and still get a good quality QB in Wilson in the later rounds. Shame I won't be able to do that this year. Wilson gonna be getting picked much earlier now it seems

Are the top 10 QBs (in whichever order you think) pretty much locked in?

    Rodgers
    Luck
    Peyton
    Ben
    Wilson
    Brees
    Ryan
    Romo
    Scam
    Stafford

Who would round out the top 12?
Trying to see if it'd be good to wait out drafting one based on who the 12th or so QB is compared to like the 5th.

I think I might drop Peyton a few slots, don't think I'll target him. Losing Ryan Clady and Julius Thomas might hurt a bit. I think he'll turn more into a game manager than the shootout qb he's been.

I think I'd prefer Matt Ryan or wait and grab Tannehill or Eli. I like Bridgewater as part of a 2 headed qb streamteam.

ugh, I hope to not have any top picks. I prefer the back of the round. Maybe Charles, Dez, Julio. Maybe AP if things gel throughout the summer. I'll be looking more into McCoy.

For the most part, people draft off of last years results. Last years first round was so messed up. How many first round drafted guys finished as first round guys? maybe 2 or 3? I don't know. My point is to target the guys you like. Don't worry about value or adp.
I say it every year, but I like Julio Jones again. I believe its his contract year and they have a nice passing schedule. The oline should be better, and hopefully the running game. I think I'd be comfortable taking him at 1 overall if I had to pick from that spot.

Huh...looking at that list, maybe I'll be drafting Brady this year after all. He'll probably sit 2 games, so live dangerously for 2 weeks and then he'll be back. Assuming I couldn't get Wilson or someone similar.

I'd feel safe picking Eli with his offense, Tannehill might be a good guy to grab if you roll the dice on 2 lower tier QBs, and Bridgwater could be interesting for someone.

A couple weeks ago I heard someone on the sirius fantasy channel saying they wouldn't touch Brady as a top 15 qb. Because of the suspension, yet this same person was ok draft Bell as a top rb. wtf is wrong with people.
I hope people lay off Brady, I'll grab him as my qb. I'd be fine rolling with a guy like Bridgewater for a few weeks until Brady is back.

I think my main target is Tannehill though. That offense is looking sweet. I believe their schedule is nice too.

Brady obviously was sticking out as the value guy last year, at least to me. Guess it probably ended up being Luck, but if you picked Brady after about 6-8 QBs were taken, you were sitting well.

Last year I was all in on guys with falling draft stock - Gronk, Leveon, Brady...worked out well. Not that easy to find those guys though

Havent researched too much yet, but the first few rounds seem like a minefield this year to me, esp in RBs. Think you might be best off grabbing those no-doubt WRs like Dez and Julio, and hoping for the best at RB in the 3/4. Just feel like there are a lot of question marks on the top RBs

I just joined one today, the league already filled and started drafting. I love the draft only format.

I'm not sure if we could get 12 people who are interested in drafting this early. But if we can get a few more people I'll create one and I imagine it will just run when it fills up.

I think I'd prefer Matt Ryan or wait and grab Tannehill or Eli. I like Bridgewater as part of a 2 headed qb streamteam.
I'd love to have Matt Ryan but not in the 5th round.
Might just wait out a Kaepernick+Eli combo in rounds 10-12 and play matchups.

fuck it. I'll create the league and it'll start when it fills.

$10 draft only league. $100 to first place. Under "Leagues We Are Filling Now" you will see "Join a Private League you've been given a password for". Click on that and it will open a page asking for the password.

I'm not sure if we could get 12 people who are interested in drafting this early. But if we can get a few more people I'll create one and I imagine it will just run when it fills up.
i don't get why people are already drafting their teams. still pretty damn early for that.

These mfl leagues create the adp that exists as July and August roll around. It's good for practice and to learn who you can get where. I'll be doing a few high stakes draft only leagues in August, so this is a cheap way to prepare for that. And I can win some cash doing it.
