itunes match for bootleg collection

I have a pretty extensive collection of live shows on my hard drive, and in my itunes library. I was wondering if anyone knew or had experience using itunes match service in backing these kinds of files up. I know Apple music royally screwed up a lot of people's collections and catalogues when it first came out. And I don't want that to happen to mine. Just curious if itunes match is any better for archiving shows, or if anyone has a better idea.

I'm interested in it so I can access the archive of shows without having to upload or download the shows from my laptop to my iphone any time I get a hankering for a certain show.

I've had iTunes Match since it came out. It works great for my downloaded tapes. The issues had early on are now long gone. Worth the $29 or so I pay for it each year.

I found Google Play Music to be an unsatisfactory experience. So I got rid of it. Google sucks these days.

I've had it for the past two or three years. It took a few DAYS to upload everything when I first got it, but I haven't had any serious issues with it this whole time. It's nice having access to play ALL of my DMB stuff from my work computer.

My sister in law has match and loves it
I might get it based on her experience
She has some live stuff, lots of ripped CDs, and some purchases
Says she can listen on any device, dl and save of she wants

I've been using iTunes Match for a few years now and it's honestly the perfect solution for tape collections in iTunes. Awesome thing is if you have Apple Music, it also works hand in hand with iTunes Match! So you get the best of both worlds. Definitely recommend it

Google Music > iTunes

I will admit that Google Music had some glitches in the beginning, but now it's very good.

I usually use iTunes on my PC, but I'm trying Google Play Music so it's backed up somewhere if my house burns down or whatever, plus also I have a Android phone so I can listen to my music on it? deal

I used Google Play for a while but found it to be a organizational nightmare. Often times multiple listings of the same album under an artist, or a song would be missing under an album. I'm too OCD for that.

Thanks for the advice! Think I'm going to give match a try. They upped the song limit from 25,000 to 100,000, not including purchased iTunes songs. That's quite a bit of space. I'm just worried it will be matched incorrectly and cause an enormous waste of time as most Apple oriented things seem to do these days.

I use iTunes Match and have not had a problem with it incorrectly matching tapes or live releases because they just get uploaded.

I couldn't help but notice that someone else just made a post about this. The responses in there have conflicting results with the responses in here. Is itunes match a good way to store your bootlegs? People on the other thread are claiming it isn't and that itunes WILL mess up your collection.

iTunes Match is fantastic IF and only if you do not sign up for Apple Music. There were widespread reports of metadata being altered and even files being lost, but that was only for users who signed up for Apple Music while being iTunes Match subscribers.

IIRC, this was ameliorated with the next update, but I can't tell you for sure.

I can tell you for sure that I've had iTunes Match for going on 3 years and never had a single issue with it, but I have not signed up for Apple Music.

FYI Google Play Music is offering a promotion for the service at $5.00/month. I think this is about the best price you can get for a streaming service.

To answer your question.... No, iTunes is not gonna match the songs from your bootlegs. I use iTunes Match and have recommended it to many people, and I love it. But if you're trying to upgrade your AUDs, this isn't gonna do it for ya. Maybe some of them, but if that's what you're trying to do you won't be happy. It's better for someone who changes their music on their iPhone/iPod often, or for someone who needs the ability to pull from their entire collection at any time

And let me add, I have about 380 Dmb shows in my iTunes Match and it has worked perfectly for all of my library- never had any issues aside from some rare intermittent sync issues
