Disappointed in DMB

I think it's fairly obvious we are all really big fans of DMB, so there's certainly no lack of love for the band.

But I was just wondering how many times you've been disappointed by the band; whether it be the setlist they chose, cancelled a show, album delay, a song they wrote, etc... We all spend a lot of time and money on the band and I think we have every right to be disappointed from time to time.

My biggest disappointment is the cancelling of the Utah show...for the 2nd year in a row. I know it's been discussed so I'm not going to beat it to death but I just wish they would have done something for the fans that have been waiting for 2 years to see them play in Utah.

This isn't intended to be a bash DMB thread, I'll never stop listening to them and 99.9% of the time they are perfect...just curious.

I've been disappointed by them since they fired Lillywhite.

DMB could still be so incredibly much better than they are now, IMO. Replacing Butch with Tim is HUUUUUGE, and I love it, but another fantastic album (I consider BWGGK merely good / solid) would go a long way to making them even close to as good as Radiohead again.

Ever since they made Boyd start wearing a shirt and pulling up his pants.

Where has the Boydwood Forest gone I ask you?

What would they need to do to reach their full potential?

I agree with you btw, just wondering...

I think they need to create an album with a producer as talented as Lillywhite or Lanois. Cavallo is certainly NOT that producer.

I don't know if DMB's full potential is as good as it was in 2000, but I think this is the only way they will ever reach it, whatever it is.

Another minor detail would be to stop playing any and all songs from 2005-2007 and replacing them with more work from the 90s/2000. But that's relatively minor.

I was kind of disappointed after the bethel show. But I always just remember the nights where the band just blew me away.

    Re: Disappointed in DMB

Stand Up disappointed me greatly as it was just a bad album by one of my favorite bands. I was mildly disappointed in Everyday, but still enjoyed a lot of songs on it.

Live wise, I've seen them 12 times and had a blast everytime, even in 2005. Still played plenty of my old favorites (was the last time I've gotten Warehouse which is my favorite live song by them), and some of the Stand Up songs are pretty good live.

Other than that, they've not really disappointed me much. Otherwise I wouldn't still be following them 13 years after getting into them in 1996, much less posting about them on a fan site. I'd have left them behind like I have other bands that have disappointed me as there careers wound on--like Live.

They brought me back with this album. I will defend 90% of these songs. Listen, and listen, and listen.

You know what disappoints me? The fact that on 9/11 you can't have some perspective and realize that it really isn't that big of a deal if a show is canceled or if an album is delayed or if you didn't get the hear the song you wanted or if they didn't work with the producer you like.

    Thanks Debbie....

We all understand the tragedy of 9/11 and have been brought together by it, but if you think 9/11 will ever prevent humans from being disappointed in trivial things, then you need to sit down and have a talk with yourself...Dont think that you're a saint for having 'some perspective' 1 out of 365 days a year...

The way I look at it is - we all are going to die.

When I'm dying, I won't think of things that just don't matter. You like something, you don't like something - but to be "disappointed" in something you just have no control over is absolutely rediculous. Upset, ok - I understand. But theres a line I feel some people cross sometimes.

I just think it is silly to bitch and complain about something trivial today (Sure you could say I'm bitching and complaining. I know how they bitching games go on here.) Love life and get over yourself.

dude..you are on these boards too

    don't say it's sad..

the band has been midly disappointing recently with the setlists, but we have to realize it's an album tour

and if D&T go on tour

no one on these boards will be pissed haha

No, the site gives that info. Just go to someones public profile, then click the "statistics" tab on that page and it lists posts per day.

Still a bit sad to look it up--I just put Lewis and other Debbie Downers on ignore--but no calculations are needed.
