CITI Presale VS Warehouse VS Public on Sale

Anyone have any information about the citi presale vs public on sale vs warehouse presale and how tickets are distributed? Certain allotments for citi? Im pretty familiar (I think) about how the warehouse does or doesnt pick seat assignments but dont know anything about the citi presale as I have not used my card for that yet. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: CITI Presale VS Warehouse VS Public on Sale

Citi Presale has its own allotment, and it varies where that is based on the venue. I'm pretty sure any seats in the presale allotment that aren't sold get moved to the citi preferred seats (but preferred may have its own allotment as well). As an 08 member of the warehouse, I almost always get better seats through the citi presale. I tend to only use the warehouse for shows with low venue capacity (i.e., the only reason I went to dave and tim in oakdale was because I got seats through the warehouse).

This could be a very simple and stupid question, as I haven't looked into it yet. Is there a certain citi credit card you need for the presale?

    Warehouse

Ticketmaster is a joke. Tickets sold out the second they go on sale and you get redirected to a third party site.

I usually get great lower seats from WH if requesting a pair. If it's 4 tickets, its usually uppers.

I get the best tickets thru Ticketmaster always. Sure, you pay the fees, but I prefer to pay a little more to be where I want to be as opposed to being surprised with crappy seats from the Warehouse.

    I came to post this.

Every time I go through Warehouse I get a crap seat. That's why I let my membership go - point in keeping it.

I've never had any real trouble going through TM for DMB.

I've generally been unhappy with the Warehouse process the 3 or 4 times I spun that wheel. I just go with the Citi presale and then have TM as the first backup, then the boards here after that. One can always make it happen.

Sorry but you know that isnt the reality for 90% of members. And im sure you working there doesnt hurt your assignments.

This. Certainly not my reality. I always request pairs and I can probably count on one hand how many times I've been given lowers over the last 8 or so years. Had much better luck back in the early days, but that ship has sailed.

Citi Presale is absolutely the way to go. I only use my WH membership for requesting Dave & Tim tickets these days.

because you are probably the one doing the assignments. I've never got lowers via request. I've got pits before and lowers from instants, but never from the request period. Maybe you could slide some lowers my way for ATL

12/98 member, last year I requested Pits/Lowers for 6 shows, I got zero Pits/Lowers, got stuck with lousy Uppers for 3 shows, declined for 3 shows:

    Request / Confirm
    2 ATL $85 Pit with opt out / 2 $75 Reserve
    2 Tampa $85 Pit with out out / 2 $75 Reserve
    2 WPB N1 $85 Pit with opt out / 2 $75 Reserve

Damn, those are awful. You're a senior member and twice requested the most expensive seats available and still got nothing!

That's absolutely ridiculous. What's the point in having a "priority" ticketing service? They need to do it like the airlines do it; the more shows you go to, the better seats you get. Would drive people to use the WH ticketing and fans would benefit hugely. Or, have a weight component which would consider tenure as a member and shows attended.

When you request tix from the warehouse do they let you know if you are confirmed before the CITI Presale? I was in the warehouse years ago, rejoined few months back. I don't remember much about the ticketing process.

As someone that just joined the Warehouse in December, should I try my luck at making ticket requests? I have seen what looks like some horror stories and I'm so new that I know I have no seniority. Would I have better luck jumping on Ticketmaster right away when they go on sale? I am planning to make my first trip to the Gorge this year and want to get the best possible seats. I've been waiting about 15 years for this trip!

Re: CITI Presale VS Warehouse VS Public on Sale

So if you request warehouse, you have to buy whatever they give you, even if you don't get the lowers or pit you request, right?

Interested to hear how luck has been with the citi pre sales. Do you usually get lowers if you request them? Is it worth not requesting warehouse and banking on citi instead?

Also, I like the advice I heard before about requesting through both means and just selling whatever you don't want. I'd be fine with that, but just interested to hear if anyone has advice for the best ways to sell tickets... Especially if I buy for an out of town venue and can't meet up via Craigslist or something. Do you guys sell on here a lot? Or sell on some of the Facebook groups? Good experiences with doing that?

Appreciate any and all advice here. Ive usually only done a show or two a year and taken tickets as they've come in the past, but I'd like to plan this out in advance this time and get to as many as possible.
