Storyline was good....and I dont think he was a bad actor. I think the characters awkwardness is being mistaken for bad acting, possibly.

This show was pretty funny. Will definitely be watching tonight's episode. Was really wishing I had more interest in Episodes so it could tie this and Californication together.

Thought last nights episode was also very good. Really enjoying this show so far and Emmy Rossum is hot so an added bonus.

This is a great show. I'm glad I started watching a show when it started for a change, usually I wait for years and then I have to catch up.

She does indeed. I love this show for so many reasons. The last episode was full of great one liners by the whole cast. I can't wait for the next episode.

That is how long the show is. The first few episodes were extended, especially the premiere. Each episode is 45 minutes

I'm 3 episodes in and this thing is excellent. The little girl Debbie, might be the most impressive out of them all, for how young that girl must really be.

Watched the pilot tonight, and I've got the next 5 episodes burned to DVD. I haven't seen the British original, so I have no means of comparison, which is good, because I'd prefer to evaluate the show on its own merits. I know that the original British writer was brought in for at least the first two episodes, and if that's true of the pilot, either it didn't translate well to American actors, or the writing was just bad, because it was definitely the weak link (I've heard that the show picks up in episode 3, when it starts to draw up its own storylines). That aside, the acting is pretty good, although William H. Macy and Joan Cusack play their parts way too broadly. Emmy Rossum, however, is a revelation (no pun intended, exposing her boobs notwithstanding). Nothing I'd seen her in before gave me any indication that she could pull of a role like Fiona the way she did in the first episode, and it looks like she keeps it up throughout the series (including the boob-exposure part, so, bonus). I'll watch the rest of the season, but I don't know how much of a chance it has in the long run (although I've also read that the British series is apparently still going strong, now into its 8th season, or so, so there's no shortage of plotlines to borrow).

It's really bizarre, I had no idea until recently discussing this show with my mom how much apparently she's hated Macy over the years. You should've seen the look on my face when she told me

I mean this is one of the best actors alive. And, granted if I'd seen the original first and heard for the remake they were looking at Macy for the father, I'd of been like whaaaa? But he's really nailed it.

I've looked forward to the show every week since it aired.. There's only been one episode that i didn't think was all that great but last weeks ranked up there as one of the best for sure.
