Re: The Shield Appreciation

Chiklis was ridiculously good in the Shield, though Cranston showed more range (Vic was the same person at home and work, and was the same person in E1 as he was in the finale)

either way, both were born to play those roles

S5E5 ("Trophy") was a really good episode. They really stuck it to Kavanaugh.

yeah that was a great one

About halfway through the 4th season of SOA right now...even with Sutter as the creator, I'm amazed at all the Shield alums and references

So far I think I've seen Dutch, Aceveda, Claudette, Lem, Ronnie, and Billings. The black gang is called the Niners, and some kid even call Lem a Lemonhead

Shane shows up in the fifth season. Katey Sagal had a recurring role as Gilroy's wife.

Some more obscure ones: The guy who plays Jacob Hale played a one-episode character in Shield. The actress who played Stahl (June Walker) was a prostitute in one episode of The Shield.

Lotta crossover with Deadwood, too — Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter & Unser), Kim Dickens (Joanie & Colette), Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane & the gang's lawyer), Paula Malcomson (Trixie & Maureen), Titus Welliver (Adams & Jimmy O'Phelan), Ray McKinnon (Rev. Smith & Linc Potter), Keone Young (Wu & Lin).

You could skip from the Darabont episode (Chasing Ghosts, 606) to Animal Control (706) and not miss much other than Franka Potente.

Watched a few seasons of the shield on a deployment once probably 10 years ago. Started from the beginning a month or so ago, just finished up. Fantastic.

Watching Season 6 right now.. I'm seven episodes into it and I don't think it's as bad as I sometimes make it out to be. Although it think it starts to tail off around this time.

Vic confronting Shane about Lem... that's one of the best scenes in the entire series.

I didn't realize that Season 6 was only 10 episodes. It's not so bad after all. Even Hyatt doesn't piss me off as much as he used to.
