Has KU had a true point guard since Chalmers? That seems like it's been their achilles heel for several years now. Although it seems like the true distributor PGs are fewer and far between overall now.

Rodey, you should go & try to convince people how Duke was better than Wisconsin in 2013/2014

Awesome. Went back in 2009-10 when Duke lost. That was devastating. But then they won the title and I felt better.

I'd only do that if I thought they were. Obviously they weren't. I do think Duke could have beaten Wisconsin, though.

Tyshawn Taylor was the closest. And Mario was a SG at Kansas. Russell Robinson & Sherron Collins ran the point.

or possibly Devonte Graham if he commits to Kansas. I don't see him starting though. I don't know a lot about him, but it sounds like he's a true pass-first PG which KU can definately use with all of the scoring options they're going to have next year.

Calipari again squashing rumors that he's interested in the Lakers. Apparently they are interested in Ollie too which sounds dumb to me, lakers fans would be pissed

I'm surprised that Fred Hoibergs name is mentioned more than it is. He's clearly more of an NBA coach than Calipari, Izzo, etc.. would ever be.

I'm a Laker fan who and I am hoping they don't even consider Calipari - he'd be a disaster. Ollie or Hoiberg would be good choices though.

The only way Cal gets back into the NBA is if he gets caught up in some NCAA violations and needs a place to go.

I think Izzo would be a great NBA coach. I'm not sure there is another college coach out there who would be better suited for the NBA.

Yep. Meant to reply in here yesterday saying that I could see Ollie being a real good NBA coach.

Ollie and Hoiberg are NBA coaches coaching in college.. Calipari is a great college coach but I don't think his motivation style and mind games translate to the NBA. Plus he can't recruit in the NBA, obviously his best attribute as a coach.

I know I'm biased towards the college game but I don't see why a highly successful coach would want to coach in the NBA unless it's a great situation.. I mean I understand it's the highlest level of your profession but it seems like a lot of bullshit that is out of your control.

I think it's an ego thing too, to an extent.

A great college coach receives far more praise than an NBA one aside from rare exceptions like Pop.

I mean, you don't hear a lot of people shouting from the hilltops how great Spoelstra is.

College coaches have to coach, recruit year-round, worry about potential academic and NCAA violations, and hope your players don't get into any legal trouble. The NBA is much more simple in terms of job scope. And yes the NBA season is longer, but with recruiting throughout the year I don't think there is a big discrepecncy in the time commitment.

    That's the main thing.

That's why K lucked out so much with the Olympic team. If he hadn't had that I think he may have taken an NBA job by now. He got the opportunity to coach the best players in the world as a part-time job.

I don't think K was really ever going to leave Duke for the league, though I think he would be a very good NBA coach.

The biggest thing K has done with his Olympic experience is smartly using it as a recruiting advantage.

which seems strange since I don't feel like their recruiting classes are any better or worse because of it.

Kids looking to be on the fast track to the NBA are going to Duke much more frequently than they had been. Over the past couple years you've had Irving, Rivers, Parker and now Okafor. Who was their last one-and-done before this decade ... Deng?

Definitely seems like it. And, I'd have to imagine that thought process plays into it. When you're being endorsed by some of the NBA's most elite, it can't hurt you on the recruiting trail.

If I'm on the fence between three great programs with great coaches and one happens to be the head coach of team USA with above praise, that has to help.

That being said, those aren't the players who have brought home championships for Duke. Duke's success has always come from having a team together a while for the most part.
