    5714 k's, 2795 walks

5714/2795=2.04. Which is in fact more than double.

I don't even know what your post means.

never. I want guys that throw strikes. My team has people in the field, so I don't need a wild man up there who either walks or K's someone.

As someone pointed out... He throws two k's for every walk. Your fielders make errors and can nothing about a base hit.

Nolan Averaged just over one K per inning. Assuming he walks one, he'll throw two more K's and be out of the inning.

Nolan's problem was that he played on shit teams that couldn't generate runs. That's not his fault, yet he still won 300 games.

The late 70's Angels teams were good and the 80's Astro teams were overall pretty good. Even his Ranger teams had some winning years. So except for his early Angel years, that statement is not entirely true. Unless, those good teams he was on didn't score much.

He's definitely my #1 pick for people who lie to a grand jury. The guy was awesome. Watching him pitch was a real treat. But, watching him in court because he is afraid to hurt his massive ego is even more fun to watch.

Unreal. I'm not saying he is your first pick, just that if he was put on your team would you keep him or trade him?

Are you serious? Those Angels teams were turrible to mediocre, and in his 9 years in Houston they were good for a couple of seasons.

So was Lam Jones for the NFL, that really doesn't mean much.

His last 2nd Angel teams came in 2nd and 1st. (hence, late 70's)

His Astro teams had 2 1st place, 1 2nd and 3 3rd place finishes. That's more than a couple of good seasons. Unless we have different definitions of good.

How can Greg Maddux have twice as many votes as sandy Koufax? Koufax was my vote, simply because for the five or so years that he was at his best, NOBODY has ever been that good nor will anyone ever again. He literally dominated the league like no other pitcher ever has. I don't care too much about career totals, which Koufax would lose out on to most of the guys on this list. I based it solely on who I thought was the very best ever over a period of time.

but isnt part of being great is sustaining and having a career. 5 years is such a small sample size even if it was one of the best stretches in the history of the game.

As for Maddux, he was dominant in the largely offensive steroid era while Koufax dominated during a mostly pitching dominant era.

I don't think it's arguable that Koufax had the most dominant five years ever.

Also, they had to change the rules because of Koufax and Gibson. Not too many players you can say that about.

The league was also smaller then, making the overall talent of way team higher than it was in the 90's for Maddux.

There is something to be said for sustaining greatness, but Koufax is like Barry sanders to me in that the dominance they showed over a shorter time is simply incomparable.

But I bet if you look at era under league average, Koufax's years would not compare favorably to the years Maddux and Pedro had at the height of their career.

Talent pool may have been smaller but ballparks were way bigger. There are just so many variables over the different eras. It really is hard to compare them.

Sanders did play 10 years, a long time for an NFL player.
