***Official String Cheese Incident Thread***

Listened to these guys in the car on my ride home from school today, they really are awesome.

I listened to 2001-03-06

Don't Say>Birdland is a brilliant 30 minutes of music. Check it out:
http://www.archive.org/details/sci20...06.mk4v.flac16

They have some tour dates this Summer, a lot fewer than I would like them to:

http://stringcheeseincident.com/liveincidents.html

The Hulaween with Bisco sounds AMAZING. I would love to go, but there's not a chance I can swing that, financially.

Any other Cheese lovers out there?

Yeah, I think a lot of DMB fans would dig these guys - fiddle, acoustic guitar riffs, awesome drumming. Yumm.
They really started to suck after 2004 though, IMO. Some would even say after 2001.
However, I liked their Roth set, and if they were playing anywhere near me this year I'd be all over it.

Well, it was only time before these guys got a thread. I love the Cheese. I am digging on seeing them at Halloween. Did not know they were touring. That is great news!

    had to be said, sorry

don't really like them as much as most jam bands. nothing really sticks out imo. their take on untz jams is shitty too

Totally agree. That was their downfall. Their genre hopping though is extremely impressive to me. That's what really makes them stand out in the jam band pack. I don't even think Phish can as convincingly play bluegrass>latin>funk>jazz>world beat>psychadelic the way Cheese can in just one set.

is that like a more dance jam? with a little techno-ish beat? tried to google it but it all that came up were comparisons to bisco so i just kinda put 2 and 2 together.....

Hey guys- I'm watching Horning's Hideout on iClips right now and am really digging it. I've never really given these guys much of a chance but would really love to get into their music to see what I like. Any suggestions for a noob like myself?

    There early stuff is dope!

The String Cheese Incident and Untying the Not are my favorite albums. Big fan of Sirens, the song. It's one of the happy, love songs a la Crush. They are like the Dead in that they all have side projects. Pangea, Emmitt/Nershi, Keller Williams Incident. Their electronic stuff is odd, but it is what it is.

Also, their Austin City Limits, Shine->New Pollution is probably some of the best Cheese I've ever heard. Seriously, check this out:

It's track 06 on that recording.
