But in general, making fun of facebook is silly because it is an extremely important cultural thing and an extremely important tool for upcoming artists in all mediums. It's always been in vogue for people (especially 35 & under) to rag on something that's become incredibly and massively popular all over the world (particularly if those who created the thing are fairly young themselves) something's been put up on this really high pedestal and no we absolutely can't have that so we're gonna tear that fucker down, etc... but it really seems especially trendy to engage in this kind of behavior over the last few years. Not really surprising giving the frequent and speed at which all manner of different things have popped up across the cultural landscape with technology advancing rapidly every minute.
There are always those type of people who just can't handle something (what they deem) having too much praise and attention, and really not even looking at the thing on its own merits, just that they
need to tear something big down. Mind you, this isn't intended on being some spirited defense on the virtues of Facebook, not at all, that's just the particular example right now in the discussion.
