Vegas clubs are the best. If you are in your 20's definitely check them out. Lived in Vegas for 8 years, went to college there, rule #1 guestlistes are bullshit (you'll understand when you get there). If you do plan on going to a club pre drink before you go. Rule #2 Vegas is the most superficial place you've ever been, if you plan on going out on the strip DRESS APPROPRIATELY.

You'll have the best odds to win playing blackjack, you'll have the most fun playing Craps, and if you play slots play the ones that have a jackpot and are on the outer edges of the casinos (statistically proven to pay out more).

If you are a heavy gambler take advantage of players cards (again, you'll understand when you get there), if you you win/lose big you become eligible for comp food/rooms. Typically, I would play $25 blackjack for 3 hours and get breakfast, lunch, and dinner comp.

Vegas is not built for people on a budget, unfortunately. You pay for what you get. The $3.99 buffet is dead. If you are looking for lower limit tables take advantage of downtown (old) Vegas. That area is getting gentrified. If you are an artist, all the art bars are downtown, too. Check out the Gryphon or The Bar. Great places.

Other than that, good luck. Remember that the city doesn't give a shit who you are as long as you are spending money.
You disagree with most of my posts?

    oh man, vegoose!

I MISS this festival! There was nothing more fun then getting dressed up all silly and going to see music all hours of the evening, including dave solo and dave and friends. I would LOVE to see a Halloween show/s come back to Vegas! It was soooo amazing. Man, oh man.... good times. I have absolutely no desire to goto vegas unless it's for a show. the Halloween shows were so much fun because everyone could dress up. Did I say that already... I'm repeating myself - nevermind me.

I think the dead used to do Halloween shows in vegas - I can't recall. I hope we get a good band to take this up again. I miss having something fun to do during this time.

I went to Vegoose in 2005, I agree, my whole group had so much fun.

    A couple of my thoughts...

    During the day...

Hit the pool scene. There are a lot of options, the MGM is solid but the Hard Rock is really money! Stay hydrated, it will keep you going into your night time fun, if you are dehydrated...you're gonna have a bad time.

Eat and drink on the cheap in Vegas...there are easy ways to do so if you just look and ask a little (which you are now).

    Night...

Clubs, forget them, full of dbags and wannabe tramps as Mikey from Swingers would say are just looking around when they are talking to me to see if there is anyone more important they should be talking to.

Go to a good Irish Bar or different themed bar or even catch a good band somewhere. I always liked Times Square in New York, New York, good dueling piano bar. We killed 6 bottles of Kettle One between 11 of us and my buddy and I took home identical twins from there.

    Lastly,

Take the cards from the guys handing them out. They are good for a laugh and you can just throw them away at the next trashcan. They get paid by how many they hand out and they just can't throw them away because they have guys watching them. So anyone who is trying to turn an honest buck and not slinging the rock, I believe in helping out.

Have fun and always teeter on the line of asking yourself is this legal or not?

Do not go into a closed off card room and proceed to piss on a card shuffling machine. Buddy of mine is banned from the Mandalay Bay for such an act.

Figured I'd update the group since I am the OP..

Made it back from Vegas safe and sound with a lighter wallet. Only lost about $135 in gambling, mostly on roulette. I guess I didn't realize how PACKED clubs are, you really have to get there early, 9:30ish if you want to get into the bigger ones. One of our buddies ended up knowing a guy which helped us avoid the line, but we had to pay $100 to get in... (still kicking myself for that).

But all it all it was pretty awesome. Drinking before going out is huge, drinks are very expensive out. Saved money on food by going to Chipotle/Pizza places in the hotel. One of the things I wanted to do was see the sun rise after a night of drinking, which I completed, both nights.

    Thanks for everyone's suggestions!

The Venetian is awesome. It is MASSIVE. Takes you a solid 30 min walk from your car to your room. Lowest blackjack/roulette tables I saw were $15. There is a Walgreens right next to the hotel which was huge on getting last minute things you might have forgotten.

Stumbling upon this makes me want to go back so badly. I just went in January and I'm already wanting to go back next June(ish). What's a quality, yet cheap hotel? We stayed at the Flamingo in January and I'd rather not go back. Yes, we would be outside of the hotel most of the time, but I cannot deal with the constant smell of cigarettes and depression that the Flamingo provided.

They have one at The Quad, which is on the strip (formerly the Imperial Palace). The breakfast there was awesome, and it was the only redeeming quality of the Imperial Palace.

As others have said, I would go see Love. It was the highlight of my Vegas trip last year. My wife and I did the touristy stuff, and we tried to hit as many of the casinos as possible. Some of the standard shit we did...

--Titanic and Bodies exhibits at the Luxor (both were cool)
--Aquarium at Mandalay Bay (in hindsight not worth it)
--Rode the roller coaster at New York, New York
--Went to the top of the Stratosphere (cool view but shitty casino...take the monorail to get there quickly if you're wanting to check it out)
    --Fountains at Bellagio obviously
--Wax museum at the Venetian (meh)

If you're interested in doing some of the touristy shit, you can buy passes that will let you do several of those "attractions" for a discounted price.

Oh, its was $100 a person (guys). Girls were free which just made it worse The group I was with INSISTED on seeing this DJ, called Kaskade? I knew it was in no way going to be worth it, but I couldn't really go off on my own. Really pissed me off, but what can do you. Was pretty cool when you got in, minus being packing in like sardines and echoing bass that I think I can sill hear.

EDIT: This is the douche we saw (http://www.kaskademusic.com/). They could have charged $150 and people would have shown up. Make me rethink when I complain about DMB prices...

    That's what I figured - $100 for a quality club is standard.

I went to one of the clubs at Wynn when I was there and it was awesome. Though the majority of that I think had to do with the people I was with/how drunk I was to start.

It wasn't "bad", just expensive. Granted I have never paid that much to get into anything really. Also, dance floor was so packed that the bouncers wouldn't let you on.

Not a bad time, then. I hate clubs everywhere. I feel like if you're over 25 and especially 30 at any given club and single, you're a horny old man because most of the "girls" are anywhere from 12 to maybe 25 tops depending on the quality of their fake ID. The only reason I even went to a couple of clubs is because someone in our group paid for a party host, and basically they'll get you straight from the cab (or limo) to your table. Someone in our party caught up with us and had to wait nearly an hour and a half to get it. Fuck that.

Sundowns are also pretty awesome there, watching the sun go over the mountains at either time is pretty cool, and there is a nice glow for a good hour or so after that. Watching the sun come up and drinking gives a whole new meaning to Tequila Sunrise...then an Irish Coffee to take the edge off.

Got a cabana at Venetian all day on Saturday. 500 for 9 guys is not bad at all. Any suggestions on what to do about liquor? At cabanas.

As to the Night Clubs. If you are looking for a different experience, I would say go to ACT Nightclub. It is located on the second floor of Venetian. I was brought their by my friend who lives in Vegas (works for Cesar's). She said it is a local favorite and I can see why. It is a smaller club and can get crowed at times (not as bas as TAO though), but they put on stage shows every 40 minutes that are odd and totally inappropriate in a good way. Very different and fun experience. As with other clubs in Vegas, pregame first as Drinks will be expensive.

Oh yeah, cover for guys is betweem $30-$60 depending on night and time. I didn't have to pay a cover because my friend who lives there "knew a guy" haha.

You need to find someone to hold your money.

That's where you and I differ, sir. I have zero problems going off by myself if the group is doing something I don't want to.

Did it in Vegas last October. Everyone was going to eat at some Bobby Flay joint. Didn't feel like dropping $100 on a meal or patronizing that douche's place so I said see ya later to the group. Went and had a $6 burger then wandered around by myself for a couple hours. Very enjoyable.
