Face the Sun by Miguel is definitely a top 5 song of the year for me.

If you can dig on Parker's vocal delivery than these dudes are easily the best pop-punk group going right now. Their last three albums have been outstanding.

    Holyyy Shiiiiiiit.

You guys I don't think I've posted here in two years. I was religiously following this thread from 2009 through 2013 then school and life got ahold of me. I've managed to follow music through websites like RYM, P4K, tinymixtapes, etc.. What is everyone's favorite release so far for 2015? Some albums I've been playing on repeat this year: Kendrick Lamar, Sufjan Stevens, Pinkshinyultrablast, and Jessica Pratt.

Fun fact: I went to a DMB concert with the guy who started this thread. This one.

I don't know if brash is the right adjective... I didn't really like how every song (I think there's no exception) is speaking angrily at this girl who cheated on him. I don't think there's any vocal delivery that really stood out to me (maybe the opener) nor a song that really carried his emotions in a very original way. Can't really recall a clever line, they seem to be all very direct. But maybe these kind of songs directed to a past lover just don't carry much meaning to me atm, I'd rather have more vulnerability (in both the vocals and the lyrics I'd say) than these lines spouted against someone. The best song was probably Solo tho, I liked that "I feel indigo" thing. You?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7Pr41WUGA8 Joyce Manor is much more my style. "Like old friends who'd never ask / How can you be happy when you wear all black?" and its delivery is what I love.

I normally don't sneak peek new singles because I don't like hearing them out of context and associating it with playing it on youtube, but the new Beach House song exceeded my expectations that I'm glad I did it.

Don't disagree on many of the fronts. I love the upfront angsty break up vibe through the whole album. It is also kinda their thing. He writes A LOT about ex lovers and heartbreak.

Here are two that are probably more your speed:

When I first started listening to it, I didn't like it. But by the end, I loved it. I've listened to it quite a bit since. Really looking forward to this album.

Yeah I can see that. Those two are probably less my speed I have to say I have no problems with angst, I just like it directed towards things and spoken in ways that I can relate. But I liked the tip, punk and emo stuff was my most recent obsession. Do you like The Wonder Years? I don't love them but that's what is more my speed and similar to The Story So Far, I think. (even though I only know their '13 album).
