THE LEFTOVERS (new HBO series from Damon Lindelof)
Been looking forward to this one for quite some time, and now we've finally got a premiere date for the start of its 10 episode first season. The pilot premieres Sunday, June 15th at 10pm, right after the s4 finale of Game Of Thrones, so it sure seems like HBO has a good feeling and some faith in it, they're pretty much giving it the best possible time slot.
It's based on a book by Tom Perrotta (author of books behind Election and Little Children) and it's mainly about the group of people apparently left behind on the planet after The Rapture whisks everyone else away to the afterlife. If I'm recalling this quote I saw a few months ago correctly, Stephen King called it "the best Twilight Zone episode you never saw". Damon Lindelof is writing the adaptation, Peter Berg directed the pilot and Lindelof is the main showrunner. The main cast includes Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Ann Dowd, Emily Meade and Annie Q.
The first trailer will both be online and air on HBO sometime this Sunday night, 4/6. (btw, for now at least can we please refrain from using this to talk about how much Lost sucked and the finale was a letdown...)
