I do like Muse, although they're one of those bands for me where there's always something else to listen to, so i never get around to listening to them.

muse is great! i've worn the shit out of Black Holes & Revelations and Absolution, and i still haven't picked up the others yet, but am looking forward to it.

as far as coldplay, i just thought of Trouble--one of my favorite bass lines. there's no denying that the piano part and bass part were composed in a creative and ear-pleasing way. and johnny's guitars on that one could lull me to sleep...and i mean that in the good way.

if a had to rank the three off of the cuff, it'd look something like:

    1. Radiohead

    >
    >
    2. Muse
    3.Coldplay

for the record, if you can play and sing "sparks", "yellow", or "swallowed in the sea" you will get laid.

there are few, if any, radiohead songs that will get you laid except maybe karma police or something poppy.

Love Coldplay. If I were to make a completely hyberbole-filled list, Clocks might be top 200 songs of all time. That song and piano riff just hits me.

i was just making a point. radiohead, while brilliant, is boring and depressing to the untrained ear (hot girl im trying to fuck) so playing Exit Music is going to put her to sleep while playing Swallowed in the Sea will have her swallowing my cum.

    get it?

True Love Waits will take off the panties of all the girls at a party, but use it wisely. Very easy song to play.

Alligator should be at about 7.75, Kid A should be at 9. I agree with Grand National too, good album first of the way through, but after a couple of listens, meh. I don't listen to enough of Kings of Leon to give that a fair rating, but it sounds like a fair rating.

Nice write up though. I enjoyed the read.

To me, Alligator is a 9. It just hits me so hard I can't explain.

Do you have anything you would consider over a 9? I don't know if it gets much better than Kid A.

I really don't understand how anyone could hate the front half of Rush of Blood. Like, sure, hate the band for most of X&Y, hate Chris for some of his douchebaggery, but the front half of Rush of Blood is pop greatness.

You wanna talk pop greatness? The first 6 tracks from U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind. There's 'pop greatness'.

That Coldplay album has a couple of good, and even one great, song(s) on it, but it isn't nearly as fantastic as it's made out to be.

Coldplay is a singles band. Nothing wrong with that though. But I, and buzz I believe, prefer albums to singles.

I didn't quote anyone, I was using the universal "you", so I wasn't really looking for a response. Yes, Coldplay's albums are collections of songs as opposed to albums, but in no way does that water down the fact that they make fantastic songs.

rush of blood is a good album....x and y..mediocre. the problem with coldplay is that they're so one dimensional...then they tried to be U2 light with their last album.

Wrong, they're simply boring and depressing.

What does "an untrained ear" even mean

Training your ears, for whatever, doesn't automatically make their music happy and upbeat.
