Right now I have an old laptop hooked up to my tv vis HDMI and I control that one with my main laptop via Remote Desktop.

I cast my chrome browser on my computer for Amazon Prime. Haven't had an issue.

chromecast has never really worked how it should for me. never.

it's either choppy as hell. or no audio. or some other unbearable problem. even using it as a larger monitor is hard because of the lag in the mouse movement.

I've never had a problem with my Chromecast. Sounds like shitty internet or bad hardware.

I had an apple TV, 3rd gen that worked great until about a month ago. I bought it in... Fall of 2012. 4 years... I guess that's not bad.

Ended up just buying the new model one, it's also working great

Yup, for stuff that doesn't cast or have a Roku channel I use my laptop via HDMI too.

i saw one of these today at my grocery store. after watching a few videos... this looks pretty legit.

for $20, it will dry your phone after a water drop with a 75% success rate. i think $20 is worth a shot at a 3 out of 4 chance to have your phone back and not have to shell out big dough for a replacement.

My iPhone 6 has been acting odd lately... Had it fully charged yesterday, then within about 15 mins I got the 20% warning. Was watching video, but still... that's a quick drop. Plugged it in this morning and it went from 12% up to 50% immediately. Anyone else run into this?

I have a 6, and I'm having a similar issue with my battery meter. It'll show the charge is at about 30-40%, but then drop to 10% all the way down to 1% within minutes. Then I'll plug it in and it will immediately go back up to about 30-40%. Don't know what the problem is though.

I'm just not seeing the benefit of the evolution at this point. 1mm slimmer? BFD.

The current models already have BT, and they already have a lightning port. It's just taking an option away, causing me to spend more money, and adding nothing of value.

I think it was discussed in this thread before; the big difference between removing a floppy drive and moving to cd or cassette to cd or dvd to bluray etc is that there has always been a general shift to allow people to move over. IBM didn't just say "hey this cd-rom thing is the shit! No more computers with floppy drives anymore!" They waited until at least the vast majority of the industry had moved over. I.E. the vast majority of users are like you and probably don't use cd's anymore.

I have no problem moving tech forward, but as Matthew said, we already have BT and a lightning connector, this is just taking away a feature that many people use. Also curious as to whether or not the new dongle will be input and output or just output. Haven't heard either way. If it's output only, people that use the 3.5mm jack for microphone/instrument recording-type apps will be pissed.

if you don't have A MINIMUM UPLOAD of 25 Mbps, you're effed with "auto" chromecast quality. You need to knock it down.

Why would I need that much upload? Our upload is throttled to hell, but after about 5 seconds I can get crystal clear 1080p without problems.

I'm not doubting you just haven't really dove into Chromecast issues as I've never had any, especially the second gen.

when you cast a tab, like AMC, it actually doubles streams.

if you're just regular casting you can get by with much lower. Comcast gives me like 10 Mbps upload even with 150 Mbps download. So when I cast the walking dead, I have to lower the quality.
