Ghostbusters III (2012)

Just heard them mention this while I was watching Ghostbusters on AMC...

Could be interesting since they got all the original characters to come back

    Could be good.

Somebody was telling me about a rumored script. The premise they had sounds interesting enough.

OF COURSE they got the entire old cast. What the hell has Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis done in the last decade (acting)?!?! They need the money!

I rolled my eyes when I saw the thread title, but since the original cast is coming back, maybe it'll be good. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

This was pretty much my initial reaction as well Like wow talking about getting in on the ground floor with the thread.

I mean I've been keeping up on the progress of this off-and-on project for awhile now, I feel confident in saying I'm just as big a GHOSTBUSTERS fan as any other single person on this board (apparently I'm one of the few that loves #2 as well).

Having said that, even with the coup of getting Murray to return, I don't like this idea AT ALL. Having the original crew in smaller roles, handing off the reigns to a new, younger squad, them playing mentors, I'm sorry but it just smacks of potential lameness. I look at it not entirely unlike the DIE HARD franchise (and McClain is my favorite movie character of all time). It's like c'mon, you're gonna bother coming back finally after all these years, just to do that? Ugh, then just leave well enough alone.

I know I might as well be speaking an alien language when I say this Hollywood, but please -- at least try to come up with an even quasi-original idea for once this friggin decade
(this also goes for all the remakes that are getting announced at practically the rate of about one per day at this point)

The video game is already definitely happening, been in the works for a long time now (& that has all the original cast, yes including Murray). Some video of it hit the web earlier last year.

They're trying to also put together an additional feature film.

That's how long it's going to take to deflate Bill Murray's enormous ego so he'll do something like this again.

You're off your rocker. Seeing Ackroyd, Murray, and Ramis back together for one last go 'round, no matter how much they featured, will be worth it.

Also, Harold Ramis was on WGN radio this afternoon and he said that they haven't even written a script yet and that once an intial script was written, they would 'go from there.' So I don't think this is quite definite yet, though I would say it's probably pretty likely to happen.

He also said that Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis would not be involved.

I read yesterday that both WOULD be involved, and that Moranis was coming out of retirement to do the film.

If Ramis just said that yesterday, that sucks.

I don't think Bill Murray wants much to do with it. So I'm guessing that it will be very light on the Murray content.

That would be a shame. Murray is mysterious though. I read an article about him a while ago, he's pretty hard to get a hold of... for anything. So who knows if he even knows the other guys want to do it
