Is all of my childhood going to be destroyed?

    Transformers has been destroyed.
TMNT will most likely get destroyed.
Ghostbusters will be destroyed after that.

    Edit:

All I can think of is having the original Optimus Prime in 1989, surrounded by every TMNT and TF toy that existed. I hope Bay suffers one day, and whoever decided to give the OK for Ghostbusters.

Not sure how TMNT could be destroyed. I enjoyed the original movies as a child, but they weren't exactly masterpieces.

"A new, female-centric Ghostbusters movie is set to begin production this summer, but Sony Pictures (under new leadership) is already cutting that film off at the knees. Deadline reports that the studio is putting together a “male-driven action-centric comedy” Ghostbusters film that will act as a “counterpart” to director Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters. Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo—who are currently in pre-production on Captain America: Civil War—are looking to direct and produce this “male Ghostbusters” with Channing Tatum and his partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan also producing. Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce has been set to pen the screenplay. This is all being put together under the newly formed company Ghost Corps, which includes Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd.

The hope is that Tatum will play one of the Ghostbusters in this other new franchise entry, and no doubt he has the starpower to launch such a film."

I want to work at Sony for a day. Just walk in the door, start throwing darts at an idea board, and see what sticks.

Both films, and any that follow in this interconnected Ghostbusters universe for that matter, may turn out just fine. But at first blush, this move screams indecisiveness and an extreme lack of confidence to me.

I honestly believe this will hurt the male-driven film more than it will the female-driven film based solely on the studio's desire to use a male cast to "save" the female-driven one.

    Re: Ghostbusters III (2012)

Now Chris Pratt is rumored to be in it as well:

    http://collider.com/ghostbusters-chr...hanning-tatum/

"The idea for all of this is to create a shared universe (ie. a Ghostbusters Marvel Universe) of supernatural FX comedies, with the hope that after these first two Ghostbusters movies, the characters in Feig’s film (played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones) and the characters in the Tatum/Pratt film will co-mingle in an Avengers-style team-up movie. As for the fourth film, Badass Digest reports that the plan is to then do a prequel. No further details or a time period are known, but the prequel won’t revolve around characters from the original Ghostbusters since the rights tied to those characters are too complex to untangle."

That's so stupid. I'm pumped about the all female cast. Why you gotta go and screw it up? How bout you care less about the sex of the actors and just put together a good movie? Screw what the numbers tell you and just put out quality product? Look how good movies like Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect are? It's not because they're female vs. male, it's because they're quality products.

    Male Ghostbusters cast:
Chris Pratt - goofy-but-kinda-cute guy who gets the girl
Channing Tatum - sexy guy who gets all the ladies
Jonah Hill/Seth Rogen/Bobby Moynihan - fat-and-goofy(stoner if played by Rogen) guy
Donald Glover/black SNL member - token black guy in the cast
    James Franco - villain
Dan Aykroyd & Bill Murray - the "omg he's in this movie for a scene" part
Scarlett Johanson/Emma Stone - love interest with little dialogue and little character

The movie industry has just gotten completely out of control with it's obsession for reboots and sequels to movies from 30 years ago. If we remake and reboot everything from the 80's what will the next generation of filmmakers have to reboot? Dan Aykroyd is just coming off as completely deperate at this point.

I do get it. People buy into these movies and shell out the money. I have been guilty myself. But I just don't get how no one realizes how unnecessary these movies are and how they rarely ever turnout to be good. It is rare that any of these sequels with 30 year gaps are ever good. Look at Indiana Jones. People thought that movie was awful. I guess it's all about the $$$ and not the product. Just sad, because it would be great to see more original ideas. That's what made the original movies like Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Goonies, Gremlins so great in the first place. They were all so original.
