It was one of my favorite lines of the movie, but then again, I'm not sexist or racist.

Is all serisousness, if you don't like this movie, you probably didn't like the original either.

Interesting data on how men and women are rating this movie.

Really? I didn't find it terrible, but it was very meh to me. The main cast just wasn't doing it for me. Thor was the only consistently funny thing in the movie. Not sure I would have been happy paying to see it.

I thought the main cast was great. I'm not saying this to directly imply anything at you personally, but I really do wonder if this movie is exposing some deep seeded underlying sexism.

I honestly think the main issue is that it was 4 women playing the role.

Don't get me wrong, the plot was recycled and there were certainly jokes that fell flat. That said, the overall quality of this movie was very good considering the hate campaign being waged against it. It was at least a B+ movie, maybe even an A-.

The trailer didn't do it any favors I guess because the trailer really did suck. The movie definitely exceeds expectations though.

regarding the bold, I really don't think so. The main issue for people actually seeing the movie and not caring for it, is mainly because it's nothing special. for every joke or line that was funny or invoked at least a chuckle, there were a good other 9 that fell flat. the main cast was meh for the most part. Leslie Jones was actually better than I thought she would be, whereas Kate McKinnon was pretty terrible. honestly, any grade higher than a B is extremely generous.

for what was built up as a fairly major summer box office movie (they surely intended a whole new franchise off this), isn't less than $50M for the whole weekend pretty much on the disappointing side? It's certainly not an outright bomb, but I'm not sure they even wind up breaking even when you include everything that went into marketing (production budget was just shy of $150M)

well now that SPAC has passed, tons will see it next weekend instead of watching their scopes.

Again, I actually gave this movie a B+. I am certainly not claiming it was better than the original. In fact, it was the same plot redone again...

I agree that several jokes fell flat. My main point is that overall it was a solid movie. I disagree that the cast was meh. I thought they did well with a movie that was not their own. The first movie was always going to be a rehash and hard to follow the original. What I am excited for is the follow up to this. Let them have a new script with the introductions already in place. I felt that this movie set that up well. I guess I was more excited about what could be in the second movie than what I saw in this one.

Sony has said for a while they were predicting about $45mil for opening weekend. It looks like that is where it will fall.

End of the day, we may love GB, but it will never be as big as the Marvel movies or Star Wars.

The article says that it still has a chance overseas. So it is not officially a bomb yet.

I hope it holds it together enough for a sequel to happen.

It has made $122mil world wide so far and the merch sales are great. Only time will tell, but I hope a second one is made. Less budget does not have to mean a crap movie. Focus on the story more and you can do a lot with a little.

I liked the cast and really want to see them get a second movie that is their own, not just a rehash of the original.

have you ever seen a sequel that focused more on the story and less on the stupid effects or wow factors?

and before you say Empire Strikes Back, that was the 2nd part of a trilogy, not a sequel.

It's so annoying to listen to women say this was a flop because it was an all female cast. Some things just don't work when you swap out men and women. I don't think Thelma and Louis or Brokeback Mountain would work if you swapped out the sexes. It's just the way it is sometimes.

I'd pay good money to see two good looking females in a female version of Brokeback Mountain. What straight guy would turn down a chance to see good looking lesbians having sex.

I saw it this weekend. I really didn't enjoy it that much but it wasn't terrible though. I don't think it had anything to do with the female cast really.

Unfortunately for you, I don't agree with the trilogy argument with sequels.

Here is a list from IMDB though:

    http://www.imdb.com/list/ls051749787/

T2 pops out as a similar type movie that was far better than the original story.

This. It was a B maybe B+ for me. Had nothing to do with the cast.

Honestly feel horrible for Leslie Jones at this point. Internet is so god damn cruel.

I don't find her funny. But my God, it's a lady trying to make it in the world, and now she has to deal with this hack. Her personal information, passport, license, and even nude photos. All put out there to embarrass her, and shame her.

These people are truly racist, sexist, scum.

These people are truly racist, sexist, scum.
Whomever did the hack did it as retaliation b/c Leslie Jones attempted to bully someone on Twitter. She called on her followers to attack someone. The hacker(s) made that abundantly clear by posting a msg pointing out the hack.

bottom line; don't keep nudies on your phone and you reap what you sow.

(and I don't know who she is - I know she's in a commercial and was in this movie, but other than that have no clue who she is)

Based on the fact her nudes got leaked, I've started wondering: does everyone just keep nudie picks of themselves on their phone? Am I the only person without a naked selfie to my name?
