No but if you're a hot blonde with huge breasts you can find a way to coerce your way to backstage for part of the show.

OP, the only real way to meet the band is to 1) stalk them at their hotel , or 2) find a crew member

The band is not hard to meet at all. Waiting at a hotel is completely fine as long as you stay outside by the buses and don't go creeping around the lobby.

Plus, honestly, if you really want to meet them, there's no other way unless you get insanely lucky. If the band had a problem with it they would just get right on their buses and ignore the crowd like plenty of other celebrities do, or just give quick hellos and be on their way, but instead they generally make sure every single fan is given attention.

I was offered a meet and greet to last year's Salt Lake City show. That didn't turn out too well.

I actually used to live in the Woodlands and graduated high school from there. As a small part time job I worked at the pavilion and handed out lawn chairs- I wasn't 18 at the time, so I couldn't do backstage security.

However, DMB used to do 2nighters there and last time they did I was eligible to do overnight security between the two shows. So after the first show I raced to my car, changed, and headed back.

There were four of us "patrolling" that night (We basically just watched things so nothing got tampered with). And we took shifts. My first shift was in the hallway of the band's dressing room and I could see all of the guitars and could even smell the incense. This lady who travelled with the band let me take a picture of the dressing room- even though she wasn't supposed to- and said Dave had just rushed to see his girls that night.

My second shift sucked. Just in a little kiosk.

My third shift, I got to hang out on stage. The Stage. I took pictures of the setlist, still taped to stands and whatnot. I didn't dare sit at Carter's drums; Who would I think I was??

The coolest part was at one point this bald-headed light guy came up to work on the lights at around 2:30 or so. I went and talked to him for a bit just about the band, what I liked, etc. I offer to go get him a soda. He says no. He offers me a beer, I say yes and have a beer with the lighting guy from DMB.

    One of my greatest experiences
That is incredibly awesome for both of you! I love both of these stories!!!

Re: Backstage Passes and/or Meet & Greet with DMB

Here is how the Warehouse Meet & Greet works:

    - The band/WH select certain shows for M&G's.
    - All of the WH members that have confirmed tickets for these shows are then placed into some form of a random lottery process.
    - FIVE members are sleected through this random process.
    - Two days before the selected show, the WH will call you and ask "Are you going to attend the show in XYZ tomorrow?"
    - If you are NOT attending, they **** you and move on to the next person drawn.
    - If you ARE attending, they give you the good news and the info on where to meet Darryl, what not to bring, etc.

So technically, you are not competing with 44,000 other WH members for a M&G. You are only in a random draw with those WH members at a specific show. It took 10 years of being in the WH before I ever got a call (for Raleigh 2008). Not something I ever really expected.

The moral of this story: MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE NUMBER REGISTERED WITH YOUR WH USER ACCOUNT IS CORRECT. :-)

I have met Dave 3 times, Darrel twice, Jeff, Tim and Rashawn all once. All of these meetings have been out of the blue sort of things. I never had any sort of passes and all 3 times I met Dave I was standing by his tour bus, two times completely alone just talking to Darrel about the band and everything. The other time was at Fenway and there was a pretty hefty crowd but Darrel still recognized me because I had met him 3 times last year.

If it weren't for Darrel those two times, I probably wouldn't have met Dave or any of of the rest of the band. Darrel was a real gentlemen and personally asked Dave come over to me once he came back to his bus. Both times gave Darrel a handshake and said thanks a bunch and told me to let him know when I was in town for another show again.

right. and some people have left the WH since joining years ago, but the numbers just keep going after that. so if the number is over 3 million, then 3 million different members were registered at some point over the last 11 years. but to have 3 million possible people and only 44,000 current members, the turnover to produce those numbers is incredibly high. i'm 3,2**,*** and that was 4 years ago. the turnover would have to be nearly 300,000 members join AND LEAVE every year to have member numbers over 3,2**,*** but only have 44,000 current members right now.

they could have switched the join date to the date they joined the WH instead of joining the forums to show how long the person has actually been in the WH, but you aren't automatically registered on the boards when you join the WH. its easy to do, but it is a separate process.

pure luck. first year members get front row now and then too, but you'd be a fool to expect it to happen or think that its just a matter of time before its your turn.

I can assure you that there is not, nor has there ever been, 3 million members in the Warehouse. The explanation that has been given multiple times for the gaps in numbers is that MusicToday groups all of its fan clubs together, so when you join your number is assigned based on the total number of MusicToday fan club memberships. Hell, DMB didn't even draw 3 million total concert attendees in all of 2009.

Congrats!!! And I assume you now have the countdown going...to when the WH phone line opens up. I recall that feeling..."I need to call right when they open so they don't skip me"...."Come on clock, tick faster!"

Have fun at the M&G! :-)

Re: Backstage Passes and/or Meet & Greet with DMB

To the OP: I posted this several months ago to explain how the passes work. This list doesn't include the WH meet and greet which is where you go to an assigned area, and security takes you to the meeting area. This list is for the passes that are given out. As Jake pointed out, there is nothing labeled "Backstage Pass". Hope this helps.

Here are a list of the types of passes:

    1. Lounge- The easiest to get. These are sticker passes that change from show-to-show and usually have a password for each gig or the name of the person who got them for you written on them in black marker. What it gets you- Access to a social area at the venue with drinks, light snacks, and bathrooms. No band members, but you may run in to local celebs if they are at the show (example--Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was at the last Woodlands show)

    2. Pre-Show - Again, a sticker pass that is a little rarer than the lounge passes. What it gets you- access to the catered food area for the band. Occassionally a band member straggles thru but usually crew and VIP. Not done at every show (typically arena shows) I think. This is not to be confused with the Warehouse pre-show which is a meet and greet.

    3. After-Show- Again, a sticker pass. What it gets you- access backstage after the band has left and the chance to meet Boyd. Pictures and autographs are the norm and food and snacks may or may not be available.

    4. Friends and Family- A laminated pass with the DMB all access on the front and your name on the back. What it gets you- escorted backstage access to whoever got you the passes. They are somewhat lax on the escorting part. Virtually certain to meet all the band (although if you have these, you've likely met them many many times). My brother gets these and has access to the pre-show meal, the bus areas, backstage, and almost anywhere else. Occassionally Daryl will escort him to where he needs to go, but usually not.

    5. All Access- A laminated pass with DMB All Access on the front. Given to only crew, band, and staff. What it gets you- Arrested if you have one and shouldn't But..obviously these are the go anywhere, anytime, no questions asked passes.

There are a few others like Photo passes which allow you to take photos from the stagefront area during the first three songs and also the Warehouse meet and greet passes.

    Hope this answers your questions.

Put your balls in a jar and place on Coran Capshaw's desk. Then wait.

Re: Backstage Passes and/or Meet & Greet with DMB

There is so much mis-information in this thread it is ridiculous. There probably isn't 100,000 in the Wh right now but there is more than 44,000. I asked Ann (head WH lady) back in 2006 about it and she told me it was around 86,000 at the time. Most likely it is down as are ticket orders which is why they switched to allow you to order 4 tickets.

There has never been 3,000,000 in the WH.The numbers are completely jacked and trying to figure it out off of that is just stupid. It did start in the late 11,000's. I joined in 2001 and my member number is DMBF3079*** so that would mean that by 2001 they had over 3,000,000 members, that is just dumb and they couldn't still be on 3,000,000 then 9 years later if the speed they were going at.

At one point I had all of this written somewhere but it was years ago. Anyways, they were in with a bunch of other fan clubs till around the end of 2000 which is why none of the numbers are going to make any sense. There will be gaps between 11,500 to whenever they stopped and switched. They were at around 29,000 by March of 99. Eventually they made their own member number block which started with the 30 in front and went from there.

best way to meet them is going to the places they hang out in the area. for example this year at SPAC i hung out by the entrance to the venue at around 2:00. dave always comes to the venue strolling in on his bike. he stopped for about 10 minutes to talk with a bunch of us signed autographs answered question and took pictures. its all about being at the right place in the right time
