    Standard Acoustic: http://media.charleston.net/img/phot...uitar_t600.jpg

Drop D: http://road.davematthewsband.com/shows09/090415/13.html (yes, I know it's from the side, but you can see the sharp cutaway.)

That's what I've got so far. I'll find the others.

Incorrect. It's Drop D on an electric that I can't remember at the moment. Might have been a Gibson.

That would be the Jerry Jones baritone electric. Same guitar he uses on I Did It, So Right, Space Between, Bayou, etc.

I couldn't find Dave playing some of the guitars, but I found the guitars themselves.

    12 String: http://www.synergystore.com/media/im...full_front.jpg

    Resonator: http://www.12fret.com/new/national_resolectric.jpg

    Raised B: http://www.themusicshoppeharrison.co...taylor_gs8.jpg

    Baritone: http://guitartime.ca/wordpress/wp-co...-baritone1.png

    Soprano Guitar: http://www.weeklydavespeak.com/news/...e_matthews.gif

Strat (it's not exactly what Dave uses, but it gets the job done): http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prod...Sunburst_1.JPG

Odd considering I can play it Drop D on my guitar.

now, does this all apply to full band only? i've seen dave play grey st. and stay or leave on video on what appears to be his normal guitar (taylor??)

and if so why? why does full band or solo change the guitar, since it's acoustic anyway?

There is some confusion on Break Free. Yes, it is a Jerry Jones, but it is not a Jerry Jones Baritone. It is indeed played in drop-D on a Jerry Jones electric.

Monk's setlist scan would suggest otherwise:

For Grey St, when playing solo and with D&T, Dave has always used the standard guitar. In solo shows, Dave has used different guitars because he needs to have a "deeper" tone as compared to the brighter sounds that need to cut through a full band sound.

As for Stay or Leave, he previously used a similar guitar to what we've been calling his "standard" guitar. He changed things up in 2007.

There are, of course, some exceptions to the list of songs from above. Just a few examples:
Dave played PNP>Rapunzel on the JJ electric once; throughout the 2004 tour, Dave played Fool To Think with his standard Taylor 914c acoustic, not the Jerry Jones; and in 2007 Eh Hee was played on the Jerry Jones but in 2008 he played it on the 914c. Also most recently at a show I was at (7.18.09), Dave played Crush with his standard Taylor 914C w/Venetian cutaway in Drop D tuning, not the Florentine.

now go impress your friends by calling the song before it happens

At Alpine N1 this year in the lawn I bet the chick next to me $100 cash that he'd play Alligator Pie next when I saw the resonator. She shook on it...and then disappeared shortly after the song was played....I wasn't actually gonna make her pay....

I didn't know BEF was played on the 12 string. Maybe because i've seen it only once or twice.

obviously there is a ton of songs, are those the only songs played on those and everything else is on the normal taylor? like stjl, rhyme and reason, lie in our graves, i'll back you up etc.??? songs not mentioned yet basically...

Every song not listed in parentheses after another guitar is played on the 914c w/Venetian (curved, not pointy) cutaway, the guitar on the top of my list....I guess the only mistake I've caught so far from my list is that Monkey Man was also played on the 12-string

The other is that Sister is in Raised B, but "Drop D" (aka Drop A), like Write a Song.

now how do you know all this? not that i'm questioning or doubting you, i'm just interested... especially for songs you haven't seen live, like monkey man... thanks again! this is exactly what i was hoping to achieve with this thread.

I assumed he's playing Break Free on a Jerry Jones Baritone that was tuned to standard tuning with Drop D.

One of the features of the JJ Baritone is a longer (28inch, I believe) scale length, and the regular JJ electric has a regular (25inch, I think) scale, so that's how I came up with that...I've never seen him playing a JJ that doesn't have the longer scale.
